Princess has finally made her way from The Walking Dead comics to the show! Now that we’ve seen Paola Lázaro in action, who is Princess really?
For those unfamiliar, Princess is a sassy spear-wielding, goggle-wearing, fuzzy pink jacket-rocking free spirit (with purple hair) originally encountered in Pittsburgh during our heroes’ trek to Commonwealth in Issue 171. Being the only living soul left in her city, Juanita calls herself “The Princess of Pittsburgh” because “Queen” would (to her) make her sound too old. She eventually joins the gang’s convoy to the massive Ohio community, which kicks off one of the final chapters in The Walking Dead comics.
We later learn she had a rough childhood that involved getting beaten by her step father and step brother while her mother did nothing. Still, she’s kept strong and we later see her live happily ever after with a Commonwealth soldier named Mercer. See some of those scenes from the comic panels below:
Princess has also graced the cover of three Walking Dead single issues along with a trade:
As for the woman behind the goggles – Paola Lázaro is a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico who is known for her roles in “Lethal Weapon,” “SMILF,” and “Pimp.” Lázaro is also a playwright who holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dramatic Writing from SUNY Purchase College and a Master of Fine Arts in Playwriting from Columbia University. According her Women’s Project Theater bio, Lázaro has been “nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play in To the Bone at Cherry Lane Theatre. Lázaro was also in Martyna Majok’s John Who’s Here From Cambridge at EST. She received the Tow Foundation Playwright-in-Residence grant at the Atlantic Theater for 2016 – 2017 for her play Tell Hector I Miss Him.”

Finally, our interview with Paola on our podcast Talk Dead To Me:
Who is princess?….She is a pointless cringe worthy character who basically had no story in the comics after her introduction…She was created to take advantage of the 2019 woke wahmen agenda that was pushed to the point that a new catchphrase was created…go woke go broke…Marvel and DC did not get the message though…Now we have characters like snowflake and safespace and a new soy infused Batman in high school…
Just starting watching season1 again of the walking dead which I thought was brilliant upto about season 7, I’m still watching it….. for whatever reason I dont know because now the tv series I feel has been milked and is now ruined itself.
The story’s are too long too and get quite boring and I know this is a personal opinion but I can honestly says I know the ratings have dropped from when it was first released so obviously I’m not the only one… end it soon please ?
