The Walking Dead Season 7 Finale may not have left fans with an excruciating cliffhanger but serious questions still remain. Below we compiled the most-asked questions fans still have and tried to offer some clarity.
Where’s Heath?
@TheWalkingDead WHAT DID YOU DO TO HEATH?
— Noe Romero (@NoeeeRome14) April 19, 2017
Heath briefly appeared in Episode 6 during a supply run gong wrong with Tara. After they separated Tara returned to find Heath (and the camper) missing. We haven’t seen him since and fans like the one above are dying to know his fate. Actor Corey Hawkins dropped some hints to Collider back in January, “It’s usually very finite, right? But me and Scott (Gimple) have had a lot of conversations; Scott has been great in terms of asking and talking and really trying to figure out where the character was coming from and going, and you know, professional things take you where they take you, that’s normal. But we left it open…so I will just say there is always a possibility, there is always a way.” Although Hawkins is currently starring in 24: Legacy it seems very possible we’ll see his character again given his comic counterpart’s importance in All Out War.
What Side Is Dwight On?
@TheWalkingDead Does Dwight stay loyal to Rick# or Negan?
— JustDaniella! (@_JustDaniella_) April 19, 2017
If the comic’s any indication Dwight’s firmly on Rick’s side and just playing the long game against Negan. HOWEVER, comic storylines don’t always translate to show canon, so we’ll have to rely on what we know from the show, which is: Dwight pledged allegiance to Rick, created a distraction to slow down Negan, stood idle as Negan almost Lucille’d Carl, BUT left Daryl a wooden figure that read, “I didn’t know” (possibly referring to Jadis’ about-face in the finale). You can decide for yourself which side you think he’s on.
How’s Michonne?
@TheWalkingDead is Michonne ok?
— erin (@ricksmich) April 19, 2017
After going through the bell tower beating Andrea endured in the comic, Michonne will probably come back stronger than ever, just like Andrea. Besides, it’s Michonne!
What’s Going On With Jesus And The Hilltop?
@TheWalkingDead Is Jesus going to step up at the Hilltop now that Gregory seems to be mia? Maybe be Maggie's right hand man now Sasha's gone?
— Kate mccrea (@kate_mccrea) April 19, 2017
Great question – Gregory disappeared during the end of the season and if the comics are any indication you aren’t going to like where he goes. SO, while he’s gone it’s only natural that Maggie take her rightful place as the Hilltop leader (she kind of has already). As for Jesus, he’s not as close to Maggie in the comics as he is the show, so we can’t reveal what his role will be for Season 8. But judging on the past few episodes, it wouldn’t be outrageous to assume he stays alongside Maggie to run the Hilltop.
How Did Shiva Know Who To Kill?
@TheWalkingDead How did Shiva know who to kill and who not to kill? Laugh you may, but my Husband and I have debated this at length!
— Amber Myers-Smith (@AmberMyersSmit2) April 19, 2017
Phenomenal question. We would answer, but Ezekiel actor Khary Payton already did so!
I draw pictures of the bad guys on flash cards & quiz her before battle. Obviously. https://t.co/G3mUGbPMmc
— Khary Payton (@kharypayton) April 3, 2017
Also, there’s this nugget from Walker Stalker Con San Francisco:
"It's hard to aim a tiger, I mean she missed Negan by one guy over!" @kharypayton #WSCSF pic.twitter.com/AjBMLrqMZo

There you have it!
Can Caryl Be A Thing Yet?
@TheWalkingDead Why aren't CAROL & DARYL together yet?! Empty house?Moonlit night? Enough already, quit teasing us!!!!! #Caryl
— Twit1975 (@PoetryTwit1975) April 19, 2017
Fans have been shipping Carol and Daryl since Season 4 and we get why – they’ve shared a special bond throughout the series that would seem ripe for a romance. In fact, Norman Reedus discussed his love of MELISSA to Entertainment Weekly back in February, “We missed each other this whole time. Me and Andy missed each other, but me and Melissa missed each other too. It’s weird. She and I talk when we’re not filming and we’re like ‘How are you?’ It’s f—ing bizarre! So it’s hard and it’s a bittersweet reunion…There are certain characters where as soon as they start going, we start bawling. It’s kind of silly. But she’s definitely one of those for me.”
As for an on-screen romance? Reedus went on to say he’s actually mostly infatuated with Ezekiel’s tiger Shiva. He told EW, “Pretty soon that tiger is going to be my love interest if I have my way. Me and the tiger will walk off into the sunset and come back with kittens!” So there you have it folks. Out with Caryl and in with Shivyl.
Where’s Sherry? What About Oceanside?
@TheWalkingDead Where is Sherry? Will she bring the help we need with her? Will ocean side join us? So many questions! Can't wait until OCT!
— R.I.P. Elkino Watson (@OldManBeddy) April 19, 2017
Ooo, a two-parter! Sherry drastically diverted from her comic counterpart when she ran away from her life at The Sanctuary, so we can’t reveal what actually happened to her or if we’ll see her again. In the comics she eventually becomes the leader of the Saviors until, well, moving on…
Like Sherry, Oceanside also varies from the comics. (It doesn’t even show up until after All Out War). So will we see the now defenseless women and children community again? Tara herself Alanna Masterson told The New York Post back in March, “In order to take out the Saviors they’re going to need an army. There’s just too many of them and too many outposts. It will be funny because there’s no GPS and/or text messaging, so (I’m) not quite sure how they’ll find each other again, but hopefully they do.” We agree, Rick could certainly use the help.
WTF, Eugene?
@TheWalkingDead Is mullet boy really a cowardly traitor or just playing a role??
— Tara Dowling (@Girlie1978) April 19, 2017
There are a few explanations for Eugene’s deference to the dark side: 1) He thinks of the Saviors as the winning team and did it for selfish survival purposes, 2) Eugene grew tired of being useless in Alexandria and wanted to regain his control, 3) He’s pulling a Dwight (or comic version of Eugene) and playing the long game to eventually sabotage The Saviors, or 4) A combination of all of these. The whole situation’s complicated – as apathetically evil as he can seem, he also went out of his way to ‘help’ Sasha. Negan’s now on to him though, so if he’s really on his side he’s going to have to prove it next season.
What’s Negan’s Backstory?
@TheWalkingDead Are we going to see Negan's backstory? What made him how he is? Wife? Kids? Career?
— ParalegalinPA (@ParalegalinPA) April 19, 2017
For starters, Negan’s storyline is already playing out in our companion comic series “Here’s Negan,” which reveals his life right before and during the onset of the zombie apocalypse. When asked if it would ever get incorporated into the show, Scott M. Gimple told Yahoo! TV: “I take that ‘Here’s Negan’ story as the backstory. There’s some aspects of it that will probably be cool (on the show). It’s some fairly far-flung stuff…in the future, you will see some stuff from that. Might need to get Damon Lindelof to do it. It might be rather Lost-ian, but we’re talking a good while away.”
What About Those Leftover Garbage Trucks?
@TheWalkingDead
I have a question..
What is Alexandria going to do with 3 garbage trucks?— scifielements (@scifielements) April 19, 2017
Phenomenal question to end on. What happens in between scenes is Father Gabriel and Carl launch a popular garbage truck podcast called “Trash Talk” that consistently puts out weekly episodes about supply runs, Alexandria gossip, and general apocalyptic complaints. In fact, that might be our most spoilery answer yet.
What questions do you have going into Season 8? Ask us in the comments and we might respond!
My only question is: When exactly does season 8 start? I trust the showrunners since I’ve not seen a comic character brought to life like Jeffrey Dean Morgan did with Negan (extra props considering the language issue I’m sure Standards and Practices has a coronary over after the delivery of every new draft) since Robert Downey Jr was cast as Tony Stark in Iron Man.
Should be mid October, but there is a possibility of a Hollywood writers strike that could push it back.
It was more of a rhetorical question putting forth that I put myself in the hands of the writers, producers, showrunners, and actors than a real “Are we there yet!?” question.
I know a lot of TV fans were mad about 7×01 due to the onscreen sneak peek at production of ‘Lucille’s Patented Skull Mash’ (I was almost physically ill when it happened in the comic) and comic fans are mad at the changes, but I felt that the Saviors really weren’t shown enough in the comic and the philosophy of their existence and day to day life was kind of neglected in the runup to the war. So aside from loving TV Negan, I appreciated the deeper delve into who and what they ALL are about, not just the protection racket thugs.
Because Negan was telling the truth, they aren’t monsters. Just dicks. lol
I do have a few questions…
1. Michonne saw what the governor was piling up of army vehicles and weaponry, how come they didn’t go back to Woodbury to collect the stuff for the war?
2. Isn’t the Wolves’ walker trap still an asset for the war?
3. Where ARE the walkers? Non showed up after all the guns-a-blazin’ action that took place in Alexandria… Except for Sasha’s…
4. How come the “Kingdom” showed up with 5-6 people on foot … and a horse or 2 and a tiger … But they seemed to be so much more when taking Morgan and wounded Carol back home, where even more were training inside the Kingdom?
Don’t forget, the governor went back to Woodbury and burnt the place down. That was after Rick came and took all the survivors into the prison. Probably picked the place clean first
1. Um, because Woodbury is in Georgia and the characters are currently in Virginia. That would be quite a hike.
2. The traps that the Wolves set were a couple of hours away. (Aaron and Daryl discussed how far they were from the ASZ,) The trucks the walkers were in may not even be mobile.
3. They recently just re-routed a massive herd (No Way Out). Although there are probably some stragglers around, likely not enough to cause a problem. Also, Maggie and Ezekiel’s group may have taken some out on the way in.
4. The Kingdom had a lot of fighters with them. We just didn’t see them all with Ezekiel. He send some ahead and flanked out.
Because Georgia is 500 or so miles away from Virginia where Alexandria is located. And in real life gas would have gone bad after the first 15 to 18 months. These guys are in their 2nd to 3rd year of this environment. If they could find a viable reason to lead them to the Wolves trap it might help them but why would they go there? Negan is not ‘watching’ them anymore, he knows where they are. Totally agree with last point… where are his troops?
“Jesus is not as close to Maggie in the comics as he is in the show” HA? What? It’s a comic so of course we won’t see Jesus interact with Maggie as much as he is in the show.
Jesus stepped up way sooner in the comics so he stayed around with Rick at Alexandria to help because he has the knowledge, drive, skill and is vital to help take down Negan of course since it’s a comic you can’t fit as much in an issue compared to a tv episode. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t care about Maggie. He drop kicked Gregory when he tried to kill her and stayed by her to make sure she was well and is loyal. If the comics were able to cram more material it would be the same except Jesus is more like a source of comfort, a source of advice, etc unlike the show where Jesus isn’t as confident yet and Maggie seems to be a source pf
Motivation for him in the show.
In the show he seems to be around maggie than do anything else.
Negan was a gym teacher. He had a wife named Lucille (duh, who didn’t see that coming?). She died of cancer at the start of the ZA. She turned. He could not put her down and sent a kid in to do it. They had no children. He also had a unnamed mistress.
I want to know what jadis and Negan were bargaining for when she said the deal was for 12 and Negan said people were a resource. Was he supposed to kill that many? Was one of the groups getting to take that many?
Funny thing I totally missed but was awesome. The leader of the garbage pail kids is named Janis. The name of the Greek “2 faced God of deception” is named Janus.
Nice touch.
Its Jadis.
