It’s that glorious time of year when The Walking Dead…character Power Rankings return! See how the Mid-Season Premiere shuffled our rankings through week nine and let us know in the comments if you agree with the list.
1. Michonne
With Rick and Maggie gone it’s clear Michonne is the most powerful character in the show…for now. Whisperer leader Alpha, who we briefly met at the end of this week’s episode, could soon take the top spot, but at the moment Michonne commands the lead.
2. Daryl (+1)
Daryl rose a spot because he’s looking more and more like a leader each episode. Saving Lydia wasn’t easy, but it allows him to gather intel on the Whisperers while using Alpha’s daughter as a bargaining chip if her people come knocking (which we know they will).
3. Tara (+1)
Tara may be in charge of Hilltop of Daryl’s running the show, which is why we placed him above her. Still, expect to see some badassery from Tara in the coming weeks.
4. Carol (-2)
Now that Daryl and Tara have been thrust into new leadership roles we’re forced to move Carol down a few. But don’t worry, we’ll see a LOT of her in the next seven episodes.
5. Ezekiel (+1)
As we promised in our mailbag, Ezekiel WILL play a bigger role in the second half of the season (just not this week). Although we haven’t seen him yet, he still runs Kingdom so he belongs in the top 5.
6. Aaron (-1)
Aaron is Michonne’s second-HAND man so we’re keeping him towards the top.
7. Father Gabriel
Father Gabriel also serves an important role on Alexandria’s council, so we’re keeping him at the same position. (Shouldn’t they be calling Siddiq “father” instead of Gabe?)
8. Siddiq
Aside from his baby daddy drama with Rosita, Siddiq still serves as the town doctor, which definitely hasn’t spelled death for everyone who has held the position before him.
9. Judith (+4)
Judith reminded everyone how badass she was this episode when she tracked Negan, a grown man, and made him return to JAIL. Yeah, that’s why we’re moving little ass-kicker into our Top 10.
10. Magna
Magna gets the tenth spot for being the leader of her own survival group. We’ll see a lot more from her and her people in the coming episodes.
11. Yumiko
Yumiko’s archery skills are second to none, which make it easy to put her right under Magna.
12. Jerry (+2)
It may have been a minute since we’ve seen ol’ Jer Bear, but the way he swings an axe is more powerful than anything the people ranked below him can do (minus Negan).
13. Enid (+5)
Being the second town doctor gives you a lot of power, so we’re promoting her.
14. Rosita (+1)
If this was a list ranking the characters with the most complicated relationships then Rosita would be at the top and stay there for eternity, but since it’s power we’re keeping her at the same spot.
15. Kelly (+2)
Kelly’s going to be featured more next episode, so look forward to that.
16. Connie (+2)
Same goes for Connie – we’re excited to see how you guys react to their storylines this season.
17. Eugene (+2)
Eugene’s only getting a boost because Negan returned to jail and Alden got captured(?) by Alpha. Sucks to be Eugene right now – not only are you competing for Rosita’s affection with Father Gabriel, but now also Siddiq aka her baby daddy! Poor Eugene…
18. Henry (+3)
Don’t get used to Henry being at the bottom of our list for too long, we’re only keeping him here because he’s locked up. But his adjacency to Lydia could prove to be a very powerful position very soon…
19. Alden (-4)
As we mentioned, Alden and Luke got caught/captured/whatever you want to call it by Whisperer leader Alpha at the conclusion of the episode. Since people who get captured, locked up, or killed don’t fare well in our rankings, we had to move Enid’s boo down three spots.
20. Luke
If we created a power ranking of Walking Dead characters you’d want to join your band, Luke would probably be close to the top (Alden as lead singer at 1, Gabe on drums at 3, Jerry on bass at 4). But alas, he got captured by Alpha and now has to drop even further down our list.
21. Lydia (NEW)
Being Alpha’s daughter gives Lydia a TON of power, but she is locked up, and according to the Geneva TV Show Power Rankings Convention, that means we have to leave her close to the bottom.
22. Negan (-13)
Who didn’t love seeing Negan free again? We sure did. But to no one’s surprise, Negan discovered that one WAS the loneliest number and the world has nothing left to offer him outside of Alexandria. Although we kind of hate to put him at the bottom, it seems like he’ll be locked up for a while now. But don’t worry, we have much more exciting Negan story to tell this season.
That wraps up our character Power Rankings for Week Nine! Let us know in the comments what YOU thought of the list and join us next week to see how it changes again.
I have to say, it was refreshing to see the lighter side of Negan and also that he respects the little asskicker!! Says alot about the time he spent in the Alexandrian Prison. I think that this story line mirrored that of the comics well actually! Really like the start of this second half.
