Hello and welcome back to our monthly fan mailbag! After taking April off (apologies for the delay) we are back to answer (most of) your burning questions. As always, we cannot spoil Season 10 because a) it’s still being filmed and written, b) we don’t even know all the answers, and c) even if we did, telling you would probably get us all fired. So with that – let’s jump in!
The Time Jump
How huge time jump can we expect after season's finale? will it be spring or summer?

We don’t have an exact number, but it’s safe to a say at least a season or two has passed since the wintry Season 9 Finale. Angela Kang recently told Entertainment Weekly, “Things are going to pick up with a little bit more of a time passage, not a giant one like we’ve had, but winter will be over and people will be going to be in a different emotional space.”
Rick Movies
Are we ever going to get an update about the Rick movies anytime soon. I need something, anything on them!

Comic Alpha
will we get to see more of comic alpha’s storyline in the show?? preferably the storyline with negan/beta/the whisperers??

Season 9 actually followed the comics pretty well (minus Jesus’ death, Rosita’s survival, the massive time jump, the existence of Daryl, Carol, Alden, Enid, Henry, Judith, and RJ, Michonne’s flashback, Alpha and Lydia’s flashback, Rick and Maggie’s disappearances, the Savior revolt, the charter, the Hilltop teens, the museum supply mission, and the absence of Carl). But seriously, the show DID include a ton of incredible comic moments and you should look forward to seeing more in Season 10.

It’s possible we’ll see more of Negan in Season 10. After saving Judith in the blizzard it seems Negan has earned slightly more trust with Michonne and the higher-ups in Alexandria. But by no means is he free. However, at this point in the comics, Negan became a LOT more involved, especially with the Whisperers. Speaking of…
will we see any scenes of negan and alpha?

IF the show were to follow the source material, then it’s entirely probable we’ll see Alpha and Negan face-to-face. For some spoilery context: In the comics, Negan breaks out of his cell, briefly joins the Whisperers, gains their trust, beheads Alpha, and brings her head back to Rick to prove he can be trusted. But who knows what will happen in the show. They could use that storyline, give it to another character, or abandon it entirely. After all, the writers completely changed the pike victims (minus Tammy) from the comics, so anything’s possible.

First of all, ending an epic series like Game of Thrones is a tall order and we wouldn’t even begin to criticize one of the greatest series of all time. Should Sansa have ruled the six kingdoms over Bran? Of course. And as for Walking Dead, we still *knock on wood* have a while to go before the ending of the comic or show. And are you really going to riot when RJ gets crowned Supreme Ruler of Terminus 2.0? I don’t think so.
Obligatory Heath Question
Yes – I have had this question for a very long time. Are we ever going to find out what happened to Heath?

It wouldn’t be a Walking Dead mailbag without a Heath update, but we’re happy to answer. Showrunner Angela Kang has confirmed that Heath was taken by (or joined) the helicopter community that took Rick. Rumors about his disappearance became louder when fans spotted his trailer in Jadis’ junkyard two years ago. So, it’s possible we see him in the Rick movies.
Caryl Stuff
We asked some time ago but you never answered us lol.

Unfortunately for you guys we can’t spoil the show. We CAN, however, acknowledge Daryl and Carol’s incredible friendship only blossomed in Season 9. However, Daryl hasn’t once been romantically involved with someone in the zombie apocalypse. We know, there SEEMED to be something with Beth. There SEEMED to be something with Carol. There SEEMED to be something with Connie. But who knows what’s in store for Season 10! One more question!

Carol is currently living in Alexandria. If by real home you mean Kingdom, then don’t expect her to return any time soon (if at all). They left the Kingdom in the Season 9 Finale after the pipes burst and the infrastructure crumbled. But just because she’s in Alexandria doesn’t mean that’s her permanent home. Also:
Will the Kingdom be rebuilt or will they stay at Hilltop or find a new place to live?

Rick and Maggie

Probably not for Rick, since it’s widely thought he’ll only return for the movies. Maggie, however, could very possibly return. Lauren Cohan has repeated that Maggie’s story isn’t finished and Angela Kang has admitted in interviews she’d love to see Maggie return sometime next season. With the unfortunate cancellation of Cohan’s ABC show Whiskey Cavalier, it’s more possible than ever.
Hilltop’s New Leader
If Maggie comes back what will she think about possibly Zeke being the leader of Hilltop?

Great question! Hilltop has a restaurant busboy-level of turnover. At the moment, we don’t know who’s running Hilltop. Ezekiel’s the obvious choice considering his leadership experience, but it’s still up in the air. But for your question – assuming Zeke DID take over and Maggie DID return, one could presume he would give the reins back to her. Zeke is someone who respects tradition and power; it would be out of character for him to stubbornly keep Hilltop to himself. But of course, this is all hypothetical.

Michonne Backstory

I wouldn’t bet on it. If you want more backstory on Michonne as a character in general we’d recommend the Telltale’s The Walking Dead: Michonne, which includes a lot more backstory on her kids (from the comics).

We’re not really sure where this narrative came from – we’ve seen Ezekiel mourn all of these characters and places. He’s deeply affected by every loss, but we think his “and yet I smile” motto DOES carry him forward.
