Maggie will finally have her baby during the year-and-a-half time jump that precedes The Walking Dead Season 9. And thanks to the Talking Dead Preview Special – we now have a name. Lauren Cohan revealed during the broadcast, “We have baby Hershel, named after dad, and a big part of what Maggie is focusing on is building a world for him.” That’s right – Maggie’s baby will be named Hershel, after her father, who was killed by The Governor back in Season 4.
This is the same name Maggie gives to her baby in the comics too, which also experiences a time jump after All Out War. Some fans of the show have grown impatient with Maggie’s pregnancy since she announced she was expecting back in Season 6, which was nearly three years ago. But the actual story time between Season 6 and Season 8 equals around two and a half months. (Watch Cohan joke about it on Kimmel below):
So what’s next for Maggie? Cohan said on Talking Dead, “A big part of her conflict this year is finding peace of mind with allowing Negan to live, and being a good leader, a good mother, and how she’s going to let those two desires coexist, essentially.” Looks like Maggie has a lot to accomplish before her hiatus on the show.
Although Cohan will leave The Walking Dead sometime this season to work on her ABC show Whiskey Cavalier (and other projects), there’s still hope Maggie will return. “My Walking Dead story is open, it’s not finished,” Cohan recently clarified to Entertainment Weekly. “You don’t break up with someone and forget about them and delete them from your life, no, things transition into different places.” Looks like we have plenty more Maggie story to tell! The Walking Dead returns on AMC Sunday, October 7th at 9PM.
Thank god Hardwick is back…Yvette Nicole Brown is annoying as fuck….
My daughter got me watching TWD while I’m laid up at her house. I truly think you writers need your heads examined. By now we’ve come to appreciate the value of life. It’s sick that you choose to kill off people like Hershel, Noah, Glenn, Tyreese, etc. it’s ok to believe in hope & that the good guys can win. You can keep enduring characters around unless the actors want to leave the show. Why not give us some hope & let us love some of these people?
i love u all k The walking dead is great u all did a great job
