Holy smokes! This is pretty unexpected. TWD show runner Scott Gimple opened up to EW’s Dalton Ross about the possibility of seeing Negan in Season 6! Popular assumption has been that Negan wouldn’t be showing up anytime before Season 7 at the earliest, but is it possible he’ll be slamming into the TWD TV universe in the next year?!
Here’s what Scott told Entertainment Weekly:
“…when I say it’s a possibility, we have a plan in place, but there’s a couple variables for that plan that we’re deciding about. It really depends on a few factors as we move into setting up the last bit of the season story-wise.”
This makes it sound like it would be toward the end of Season 6. If, and that’s a big if, it happens.
When speaking of bringing huge characters to the show from the comic, here’s what Robert Kirkman had to say:
“…we’re always careful, and I feel like we’ve done a really good job servicing those fan expectations. Hopefully that trend will continue…if the characters you mention are to appear soon.”
There’s a bunch more in the EW article, so be sure to check it out!
What do you guys think? Will Negan arrive sooner than we thought? What will the show change? Will they use one of our casting picks?!
Here we go then, no more Glenn after S6 🙁
I know negan will probably smash glenns face in with lucielle.
i still think Negan may smash Daryl’s head in. People would be way more pissed off, making Negan an even more hated villain then he already is. BUT, it’s too soon for Negan. NO NEGAN THIS SEASON!!
agreed
That’s a perfect rallying chant…. NO NEGAN THIS SEASON! NO NEGAN THIS SEASON! NO NEGAN THIS SEASON!
Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck
I keep reading comments of article sites and facebook: ‘Not until season 8, Season 7 at the earliest’. Claiming that there is too much story to still tell. Once the No Way Out arc is over, it gets pretty quickly to Jesus, the Hilltop, first encounter with the Saviors, then Negan’s appearance. I could see the first half of Season 6 being the Wolves/No Way Out combined. Maybe ending at the halfway point with Jesus scoping out Alexandria. The winter break could be the finishing off and cleaning up of the zombie bodies. We pick back up in February with them burning the zombie bodies. Then we get the encounter with Jesus. Going to the hilltop. Back to Alexandria. Then Back to the Hilltop…… wait! The group gets surrounded by the Saviors. Introduce Negan. Credits to season 6. Pick up in Season 7 with the van speeding into the Hilltop with one less living member of the group. Just spitballing here. I guess they could drag it all out, but I would be really disappointed with drug out episodes, like the first half of season 5. The second half of 5 moved along so nicely, not a single slow episode.
What the hell episodes were drug out in last season?!
Not drug out, but slow, I would say the Hospital episodes could have moved a bit quicker. My opinion though. I was saying, they could drag out this next season. Some of the best story is coming up, and I would hate to miss it because they want to take their time getting there. As WD fans, we would love 100 seasons, but you never know when the ‘s’ can hit the fan. Walking Dead seems to be the anomaly though.
I imagine the show ending at the conclusion of AOW with a glimpse into A New Beginning. If that would be the case, they can take their sweet time getting there! But that’s just my imagination… they can make it the longest running show in history & I would still eat it up!
I totally agree. That was my thought with the end of AOW. That Kirkman was giving a nice end point for the show if it gets there.
I can see Negan appearing last episode this season, lining them all up. Screen fades just as he says “mo”, but you don’t see who Lucille is pointing to.
Cliffhanger.
If that did happen, I would probably be able to run a marathon from all the excitement that I would be feeling at that moment.
Where is Jesus?
Kicking ass on the West side.
I don’t think we’ll see Negan in Season 6. Maybe hinted at & that’s perfectly fine with me!
Why do you think that Cat Guy?
I think we could have Glenn’s death in the season finale.
Just feels like they should have a chunk of story with Rick & Morgan’s reunion, with the Wolves, with still trying to settle in & compromise, with the smaller stories like Tara healing, Abraham & Eugene coming around, Nicholas, Father Gabriel, Carol & the missing weapons, whatever’s going on with Enid, and then there are the tidbits from the comic that haven’t reached the show that could possibly add to that chunk. Also, there are those characters coming up that we haven’t seen yet but we know precede Negan. You know, there are the character builds & Daryl figuring out what to do with a cigarette in the meantime.
I think I’d be disappointed to actually see Negan this season, as it would feel rushed to me (Season 7 feels right). It would also narrow the gap between the comic & the show. That’s unsettling to me because it makes me think about the show ending & I’d be surprised if the show carried on after showing a glimpse of A New Beginning after the end of AOW.
“I’d be surprised if the show carried on after showing a glimpse of A New Beginning after the end of AOW.”
Well. If they’re looking for an endpoint around then, that would make a good one. But if they’re not? If AMC can see both series continuing to make money I’m sure they’ll keep them both going. I’m just hoping that Nicotero’s comment about 52 weeks a year zombie shows was a joke. I’m sure that would.kill the franchise stone dead – too many zombies even for me.
I hope you’re right btw, I don’t want to see it rushed.
Anyway, I’m convinced that the TWD writers’ room looks in here to get ideas for what they *won’t* do. So we’re probably safe now we’ve mentioned it.
I have this funny little feeling that they’re gonna end The Mother show & carry on with Fear.
Hush your mouth…. 🙁 That’s not a good thought – and if TWD makes money they’ll keep it.
There have already been a few Negan teasers in the show. The shadowy dude from the box car in the Terminus flashback was meant to make you think it was Negan. And then last season in Noah’s home town, Glenn picks up and comments on a baseball bat he finds on the ground. I want to say there’s been more, but I can’t think of them off the top of my head.
Negan Is a Jerk but ill love you if you either Patrick Warburton Or Bruce Campbell
I feel like the wolves won’t be around for long. I think they will hype them up like the ‘termites’ but then they die early in the season. Maybe in the first three episode’s there will be the walker attack on Alexandria. From there we can have the clean up, healing of the wounded (CARRROOLLL!), some inner conflict and then finally! Jesus appearing and a glimpse of the Hilltop. I don’t expect we see Negan anytime soon.
I’d like to see Negan, but the time has to be right. I hope they don’t try to rush it. He is such a great character, maybe my favourite from the comics! He better not kill Daryl though!
And the cock tease continues.
The Kirk Tease?
One or the other. Same thing.
KirkJerk also works.
I’ve always thought the ght time to introduce Negan was season 7ish. Season finale off 6 hmmm it depends how they incorporate the comic moments mixed with all those non comic elements in the show. I think the first half of season 6 the wolves get handled somewhat easily but at the expense of a certain son. Possibly baby girl. Then the second half would be the recovery. The clean-up and introduction of jesus like they did with aaron. Then ultimately a introduction of the hilltop. Gregory and Negan could possibly be the finale. That would be good. Or they could push the whole Negan story into season7 and have in introduced in the mid season finale. I Don’t want it to be rushed. I want it to come natural. I’ve loved so many changes the show have made from the comic because it gives it a more natural feel. So if negan showed up in season 6 i would hope it would just be Kal saying it on the wall. Maybe the firefight with Negan’s goons but i still think it’s too much that hasn’t happened that needs to happen before negan shows his face. Andrea means alot more of our ppl are going to die. Ppl i like
Ooh shit i hope negan isnt right around the corner, im just not ready for the chance at a certain someone getting smashed into a puddle, fingers crossed they swap out the death but im still worried hahaha, i also feel like the wolves are just going to be cannon fodder, with another intimidating group chewed up by the survivors i feel like rick will finally be cocky enough to hear about the saviors and just be all, “fuck it, we can kill anyone” and then find himself in trouble, hopefully itll be stretched out a bit cause like i said before im not ready for the possibility of losing my main squeeze, odds are though theyll wrap up the wolves 1/4 through the season then set up the saviors so the 2nd half can be all that
Man think of all the story that would be brushed over if negan turned up sooner rather than later. Seriously were talking last season finished around issue 76 ish so thats about 13 issues a season, which means we have to cover 24 issues this season to get to negan and brush over the “no way out”, “we find ourselves” “a larger world” and “something to fear” arc’s. Nope not happening.
General, I would forward your comment to Kirkman if I could. We’d miss a lot.
