This year’s Mid-Season Premiere of The Walking Dead might rank as the most emotional one of the series. That’s because Carl will succumb to a walker bite and die. Although the show has traditionally killed off major characters in these mid-season episodes, it still leaves a major imprint on its creators. Walking Dead Executive Producer and visual effects mastermind Greg Nicotero told Entertainment Weekly, “I think it’s one of our most powerful episodes that we’ve ever produced. When I watched the first cut of this episode, tears were coming out of my eyes twenty minutes into it.”
Since fans have learned about Carl’s impending death they have taken to social media to voice their displeasure. Nicotero understands where they’re coming from, but assures them they will get closure. He told EW, “It’s a beautiful episode and the people that clearly are upset about losing Carl and questioning where the show goes without Carl — I really do believe that a lot of people will put those feelings aside when they watch this episode because they’re really going to get an opportunity to make some peace with it.” After a pause, Nicotero continues, “I mean, that’s what I think. I don’t know, I could be completely wrong.”
Even though major character deaths are common on The Walking Dead, Greg Nicotero still treats each one respectfully. “You just really, really want to make sure that (the actors) have an opportunity to show people what their character was made of. Between Michael Rooker and Chad Coleman and Sonequa (Martin-Green) and the people that have brought so much to the show, it’s really making sure I honor them and give them that opportunity.”

No Greg you are wrong! You guys are jerks for killing off Carl when he is alive in the comics!!
Maybe the show needs to be aired in black & white since the comic isn’t in color!
Im a big fan if the show, as well as, the comic. What upsets me is that in killing off Carl, they are killing a legacy character for no apparent reason other than ratings for the show. You couldn’t kill off Carol? She’s long been dead in the comic. You couldn’t kill off Darryl? He’s not even in the comic. I suspect that Morgan will be killed off before season’s end so that Lanny James can bring Morgan over to FTWD.
Whatever story the WD show is trying to advance or move forward during the ” All out war” story arc, isn’t worth killing Carl for dramatic effect.
LOLs! So many people pitch a baby tantrum fit at every death. The Walking Dead is not meant to be rainbows, butterflies, and frilly things. Buncha pussies & Comic CRYterion Babies!
Wasn’t this the same guy who basically told everyone to go fuck themselves when people had the “nerve” to be mad at the cliffhanger with Negan’s victim?
TWD= The Wrong Dead
You killed Carl when little ass kicker would have been better no one knows what she looks like , so many babies have played that part.not even sure of her age , We would cry and move on because we do not know her she is always in the background. The bite mark looked too tidy the walker’s teeth were a nasty mess. They don’t just bite down and pull away they take a lot of flesh. Dam I was so looking forward now I have to go watch the first 7 seasons again and forget this happened.. Dam you Gimple
