I love The Walking Dead. I love the comics. I love the video games. I even kind of like Fear The Walking Dead. But seriously, f**k this cliffhanger ending. What a terrible decision! This has forever tainted an excellent season. Please join me in not buying any new merchandise or watching the next season premiere live.
Actually, it’s pretty clever. TWD s6 finale has invented the perfect solution anti-spoilers.
There is nothing to spoil.
Then it gets spoiled a month into filming because people will easily find out which actor isn’t on set and then the “reveal” for season 7 won’t even be a reveal. The news will be old by the time it’s supposed to invoke a reaction.
The ONLY good that can come from this is if the pre-aired spoiler access is COMPLETELY shut down!!!
But you know they’ll be on this like stink on shit!
its glenn. there are sound files confirming it
Just passing to remind it doesn’t confirm anything. You can hear various voices and if you play close attention, they sound like their saying various names, like Daryl and Abraham, as well as Glenn. Nothing can be confirmed.
I can’t even look at the internet with out seeing a spoiler. That made the cliffhanger that much worse. I saw it before it happened and thought there’s no fucking way they would actually do that. Obviously they did. 🙁
sound files confirm its glenn, so yea. whoever made that decision probably jerks off over making it the same character as in the comic which, actually, everyone expected.
why does anyone care? are you really gonna continue watching this insulting shit? 2 fake deaths and 2 cliffhanger endings even tho the whole season was stuffed with filler. these are the cheapest tricks to keep viewers and hopefully skyrocket back at them.
Actually… if you study the POV the person who got Lucille’d was clearly the cameraman. Next season will be entirely audio.
LOL
Why are you all pissing over the idea of a cliffhanger ending? It was the end of the season; they needed a big ending to it. YOU WOULD STILL BE COMPLAINING IF THEY HAD SHOWN YOU WHO WAS GETTING PUMMELLED (just admit it).
It leaves us wanting more, which is what anyone connected with the show wants. And it also gives us six months of prognostications and pontifications from all the fan out there in Internet Land.
Enjoy it…until you find out that Daryl or Abraham is dead…
:/
No, it doesn’t leave me wanting more. It leaves me pissed off that AMC/Gimple/Whoever had the final call pisses all over artistic integrity to use a cheap gimmick to keep people watching instead of good storytelling. They do not trust you enough to come back next season without a hook in your mouth.
And yes, people would be complaining if someone was killed. But I’m pretty damned sure you understand the difference between playful complaining and the real deal. Had they killed a character, had they not been too afraid to fucking do something interesting, we’d be all like “how could they kill him/her?!” but we’d still secretly love it. You can’t tell me killing off Dale, Hershel, Shane, and others hasn’t kept you wanting to watch to see the fallout. This? This is a cheap trick that completely kills the tension of the death and destroys any meaning it had to the audience. I won’t care who gets that bat six months from now. I’ll be curious, sure, but that emotional charge to need to know and be horrified? That has been destroyed. There’s a difference between “oh, I hate this!!” and “No, I legitimately fucking hate this.” Had we gotten a death, we’d get the first kind of complaining. Because they were too afraid, we got the second kind of complaining, which is much more severe, critical, and deserved.
Look at Game of Thrones. They kill off main characters all the time. Sometimes they kill the person you think is the MAIN main character. Yet people come back. People want more. You can kill people and it will not destroy the fandom. If they’d killed someone I’d be pissed off with Rick. I’d want to see him enact revenge. I’d be pissed off WITH the show. Now I’m just pissed off AT the show. Get the difference?
GawdDAMN the people who don’t understand this!!!
I love you all!
Oh. And “big ending.” That’s your excuse for shit writing? Really? It would have been a FUCKING HUGE ending regardless of the cliffhanger. Rick is torn from atop his Ivory tower, thinking he’s the king. We’re left with a beloved member of our A Team killed mercilessly and without reason. We’re introduced to a new big bad who gets shit done. It would have been “big” without the cliffhanger. A shitty mystery doesn’t somehow make the ending any bigger or any better. The fact that it’s completely ruined the ending for so many is proof to the contrary. This whole episode was strong. It could have ended strong. Instead this episode ended so weakly that 30 seconds managed to destroy almost the entire 90 minute air time.
Well, someone hasn’t read the comics I guess…
The reply above is to Undersolo. Just explaining it cause this comment format is kind of confusing.
Here’s your story ending: Upon his introduction in the infamous issue #100, Negan and his massive band of crazies brought Rick, Heath, Carl, Maggie, Glenn, Sophia and Michonne outside of the walls and lined them up on their knees. After demanding to know who the leader is, Negan ruled Rick out as his victim, claiming he would be a martyr and Alexandria would rally behind his death. A game of eenie-meenie-minie-moe ensues and Negan selects Glenn and unleashes a hellish swing of his bat straight down onto Glenn’s skull. Rick and the group have no choice but to watch as Glenn’s head is completely bashed to bits.
You’re spamming the discussions all over the place with this same post. Most of us here know how it all went down, so …
You know what’s worst about all of this? The fact that in an interview with IGN, Gimple said that all the backlash from fans DIDN’T MEAN SHIT. He said that those who didn’t like it had negative thoughts blocking how really cool that shit was. He said: “If you approach it from a place of skepticism or with the idea that there’s some sort of negative motivation behind it or cynical motivation behind it, if you come at it that way it’s difficult to convince you otherwise. I was going to keep watching, but seeing how a fucking NUTSACK is replying to the backlash, I’M FUCKING DONE. If you want to see the interview with Gimple aka Shitface here it is: http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/04/04/the-walking-dead-jeffrey-dean-morgan-and-scott-gimples-13-season-7-teases
I’m not done with this. I want him to feel this backlash, not simply blow it off. I want him to know he fucked up.
Good point. I’ll tweet him, message him, even send fire signals if I have to so he knows what he has done is bad. It’s crazy how some people can’t just apologize. They keep convincing themselves taht their right and are so close minded that they can’t learn anything (I’m looking right at you Remington). Instead of just accepting that he slipped and landed in shit, he tries to justify what he’s done.
Man, got to love you’re discussions guys! It’s probably because it’s 2 carls talking to each other hahaha !
Awww, that’s nice of you 😀
Thanks, mate!
You’re totally right. There’s no way that hiding who dies adds to the story.
It only hypes everyone up just to leave us hanging. Not for a week, not for a month, but half a year! The only thing that will happen now is that people will lose interest and the excitement and impact of the death will be gone.
This is the second time it happened in season 6. We had the climax ruined when Jessie’s son Ron was eaten. There was so much anticipation at the end of the episode when he starts to call for Jessie, but then nothing happens until half way through the next episode during the mid season premier, and by that point the tension was gone and no one cared anymore. I hope they stop this shitty trend. It’s just bad storytelling.

More reactions. As you can see, it was very well received.
I feel like leaving with a cliffhanger definitely ruined the emotion of the moment for whoever it was, the reactions of all of the characters and the immediacy of the effects after Hershel’s death is what made it the most heartbreaking and powerful moments of the show so far and made us want to come back for more rather than feeling angry not knowing
*spoilers* Victim can be puzzled out, the producers said there are hints in the way it is filmed to eliminate some people. The hints are that Negan says you can breathe and you can blink and you can cry to people to the left and right if the victim (rewatch it), two of those comments are directed to people on the victims right, and the you can “blink” Is said to the victims left(probably to Eugene he has a tendency not to). This mean for 100% sure both the characters on the ends are safe, glen and Eugene, Abraham is most likely the victim, he has a goodbye episode unlike other characters, and the “taking it like a champ” would fit him. Also the actor who plays Abraham sent a tweet to the actor that plays Eugene saying “it was fun working with you” …. Oh and Negans you can cry comment is directed to the person immediately to the right of the victim which would be Michone , the only girl not crying.
Unlikely that it is Daryl although possible , they had no goodbye moment or episode with him, also why do the fake out the previous episode ? Probably because with him wounded he is no threat and that makes it more believable that Negan would ignore and not choose him.
spoilersspeculationOne thing you certainly can’t bank on is Cudlitz’s Tweet. I’ve said that line to my coworkers many times.
Also, the only thing you can tell is that the victim had a person on each side. That’s it.
Well Negan will most likely pull the person forward first anyway so it could be someone in the end
Not sure what you mean by that, since we saw enough to see him swinging & he didn’t pull anyone forward. But then again, they could change it up when they come back to it, just like they did with Jessie & Sam.
I loved it! It’ll be a brutal six months but I respect the cliffhanger ending
Just got to start by saying how disappointed I am that AMC still keep going for these crappy tricks to keep people watching, rather than just telling a good story. I’m staggered that they chose this option, rather than going for what would have been one of the most talked about TV moments of all time, for the right reasons. Instead, this will just be remembered as an infamous low point.
The other thing is that I’m surprised that so many people are trying to work out who died based on the actual footage, or claim that there is proof in there somewhere? Anyone who watches the show knows that they just change whatever the hell they like to make it fit what they now want to be the truth. Remember Glens fake out death? I was thinking “OK, this could work, if they really show us the scenes we missed, that would explain how this is all possible for him to survive” They didn’t, they just reshot it all differently, so that he fell a different way, with less walkers around him. Complete bullshit to explain away their cheap trick. Same with the season 6, mid season premiere. The first half of the season ended with the kid kicking off in the crowd of walkers, meaning they were all going to be in trouble right then & there. Cut to the mid season premiere & all of a sudden none of that happens, and instead they shoot it differently, this time at night, after ignoring the cliffhanger they left us with and doing something else instead.
They could have just showed as many blatant clues as they wanted for who who gets the bat, but they won’t have any problem with changing it all later, to fit the plot they now want to use. It’s exactly what they have increasingly been doing with the characters. Just change who they are, and make them do things inconsistent with the character, just to make the plot move along. Did any of the characters even resemble themselves for the last half of season 6? You could have had any idiot from Alexandria take their place in most cases and you wouldn’t have noticed, as none of them behaved at all like the characters we all know & like. They’ve always been idiots making bad decisions, for the most part, but now they are just obviously not even idiots staying true to character.
It’s the main reason I’m almost done with it. I’m tired of seeing it keep going downhill like that. I’ll watch the premier obviously, but I have a gut feeling that until they get rid of Scott Gimple, it’s only going to get worse & I’m fed up with it now.
I truly don’t give a crap anymore. Interest lost. Fan lost. There are lots of good things to watch on TV. I lived 37 years without this show and I will live many more without it. You killed it for me with your lazy story telling and cheap cliffhangers. A cliffhanger is supposed to keep you wondering and excited to see the result. It had the opposite effect on me. I no longer care. Bye TWD. You were great til your writers got greedy.
I say we boycott TWD and no one watches the season premiere. When their ratings hit rock bottom maybe they will learn to have more respect for their fans.
