WEEEEEE’RE BAAAAAACK! Woohoo! New TWD tonight and for the next 7 weeks! If you need some refreshing, we don’t blame you! Catch our Season 5 first half recap RIGHT HERE. And then let’s jump right into Season 5, Episode 9: What’s Happened and What’s Going On!
The episode starts with a funeral. Maggie cries. Gabriel presides. These images are intercut with others: an illustration of a house framed on a desk, an open door, the group running through a parking lot, pictures of twin brothers, even the prison guard tower and Woodbury. Noah tells Rick that Beth was going to go with him to his home, outside Richmond, Virginia. Rick thinks that it sounds like a good place to head to: a walled community.
The opening continues and we see Lizzie and Mika, Lizzie with blood running from her hairline. They look into the camera and Mika says, “It’s better now.” We see the framed picture of the house again, lying on the floor now. Blood drops from above and spatters onto it. That’s probably not good. OPENING CREDITS.
Our entire crew is heading to Richmond. Rick, Tyreese, Noah, Michonne, and Glenn are scouting ahead to check out Noah’s community. Via radio chatter we learn that they’ve gone at least 500 miles and that they’re 5 miles from Noah’s home. That seems impossibly close by, but Google maps confirms that it is a little over 500 miles from Atlanta to Richmond, so there ya go.
Noah tries to reassure Tyreese that the trade at Grady was the right play. Tyreese says that it went the way it had to. He then says that revenge will blind you to what’s happening, and that his dad had raised him and Sasha to always be aware of reality as part of your duty to the world. That’s the gist anyway.
Glenn’s in the back, staring at his reflection in a CD. He squeezes it until it snaps.
Being cautious, the group pulls off in the woods outside the community instead of coming in on the main road. Pretty soon they come up on series of metal cables, stretched amongst the trees. Noah tells them that it was something they had been thinking about doing.
We see the sign for the community: SHIREWILT. Hey, hey, who gets that reference?!
There are no guards and it’s quiet. They rattle the fence and it sounds like walkers inside. Glenn climbs up and looks inside. His face says it all: Shirewilt has fallen.
Noah scales the fence and heads home. He stops before he gets there, sobbing. There are bodies in the street. A couple walkers. Trash every where. Everyone’s pretty dejected. With a big sigh, Michonne goes to dispatch the walkers.
Glenn, Rick, and Michonne go to search for supplies. Rick tells Glenn that he hoped it would be ok there. That they owed it to Beth to try to get Noah home.
Tyreese tries to reassure Noah that everything can be ok. That you can’t give up. Noah gets up and runs to his house. He’s faster limping than Tyreese sprinting.
Glenn tells Rick about his time after the prison and finding Maggie, and then about losing hope after losing Beth and learning the truth about Eugene. He picks up a baseball bat (OH GOD THE FORESHADOWING). Michonne says they need to stop because of what happens when you’re on the road too long.
Noah stops outside his house, and Tyreese tries to talk him out of it. When Noah is resolute, Tyreese pulls his knife and offers to go first. He pounds on the wall outside the front door. No walkers approach. When he enters the house there’s a body on the floor, gun shot to the head. Noah kneels by her and covers her with a quilt.
Tyreese heads down the hall to investigate some scratching. He can see a shadow underneath a door. In another he finds a body on a bed, pictures of twins on the wall. It’s Noah’s brothers. As Tyreese looks at the pictures he fails to notice the walker behind him. Noah’s little brother manages to get a bite out of Tyreese’s arm.
Noah runs into the room, pulls a model airplane down from the ceiling and puts down his little brother with it. Tyreese is bleeding like crazy. Noah runs for help.
Tyreese starts to hear things. A broadcast comes from the radio (a British voice delivering news of the outbreak, but painting the humans as vicious rebels who will do anything to anyone). He’s staring at the illustration of the house. Then he starts seeing the Termite that he didn’t kill. He’s issuing an I-Told-You-So. Then Bob talks to him. He says it went the way it always had to. The Governor talks to him. You have to earn your keep, he says. Lizzie and Mika tell him that it’s better now.
The Governor storms at him and Tyreese comes to long enough to realize that it’s actually a walker. He gets up and fights with it. In order to hold it off he puts his already bitten arm in its mouth (smart), then clubs it with a geode. He slumps to the floor, his blood dripping on the illustration of the house.
Michonne makes an argument for fixing the fences and staying. Rick says that the forest obscures their site lines and makes them vulnerable to other humans coming to attack. They go to check the hole in the wall and find a bunch of corpses, cut in half and dismembered, the pieces scattered around. They also see heavy damage to the wall on the outside. Someone attacked? This place isn’t safe either.
Michonne makes a case for heading to DC. It’s close, and it’s definitely the place best equipped for a major disaster. After all, Eugene wanted to get there for a reason. She can’t stay on the road, it’s too horrible. Then some walkers approach. “We should go,” Rick says. “It’s a hundred miles away. We should go to Washington.” They hear Noah calling for help and run.
Noah got ambushed by walkers outside a house. They take care of the walkers and then head to Noah’s house to help Tyreese.
Inside, Tyreese continues to hallucinate. The broadcast continues. Beth plays guitar and sings. He sees scenes from his past. Noah’s brothers. Train tracks. Tyreese’s ghosts talk to him. His subconscious is trying to come to terms with the decisions he’s made. Tyreese struggles to his feet. He confronts the Governor. “I didn’t know who you were! … Everything that you were is dead. I’m not giving up! …You hear me?! I’m not giving up!” The Governor shoves him back down, “YOU HAVE TO PAY THE BILL!”
Tyreese imagines Lizzie and Mika holding his had. Cut to reality and it’s Rick pulling his arm straight so Michonne can cut it off, stopping the infection.
They go as fast as possible to the gate. They break it open and have to kill a small herd of walkers. Tyreese’s arm bleeds heavily as the group fights off the walkers. They get back to the van as fast as possible but Tyreese is fading. He continues to see his ghosts.
As Rick slams on the gas, the SUV hits the truck in front of them and a bunch of armless walker torsos tumble out onto their hood, seemingly the work of the person that left the detached corpses by the wall. The undead torsos snap their teeth through the windshield. You can see a “W” carved into their foreheads (hm…).
Tyreese hears the broadcast again, and he sees only friendly ghosts in the SUV. Bob sitting shotgun, Beth driving, the girls in the back with him. He asks them to turn off the radio. “You sure?” Bob says. “It’s ok, Tyreese, you gotta know that now,” says Beth while driving (and totally not looking at the road). “It isn’t just ok, it’s better now,” Lizzie and Mika say. Tyreese looks back at Bob, who smiles at him. His head drops to the side and the late afternoon sun shines down through the trees as they drive.
Pulled back from the SUV, we see the group stop and pull Tyreese out of the back seat. Rick checks him and walks off. Michonne reaches for her sword.
The next scene is the funeral that opened the episode and we see that it isn’t Beth’s funeral as we might’ve thought, it’s Tyreese’s. The group takes turns shoveling dirt onto Tyreese’s grave.
The last shot is a makeshift cross marking Tyreese’s grave, his famous beanie perched atop.
OH THE FEELS!!!! Tyreese, you may not have been the beast of a right-hand man you were in the comics, but you were a gentle giant of a man in the show. A man who had known violence and anger and had let it all go, and in doing so was no longer really fit for the world he was living in. It’s ok, Tyreese. It’s better now.

What I’m really curious about is this: Tyreese’s death wasn’t like any death we’ve seen on the show before. We spent time with him as he died and we saw his visions. Why do you think that is? Why Tyreese? Why now?

Tyreese’s death wasn’t expected, at least in tonight’s episode. I had this feeling that he wouldn’t last much longer only because he -was- too gentle for the world that they live in. However I didn’t expect him to go so soon after we just lost Beth.
I like to believe that the group will still try to head to DC. On the way there’s going to be a lot of mourning for two lost members now. I think Sasha will take it really hard but she’ll stay with the group because she doesn’t have anyone else.
I found it rather refreshing to see Tyreese’s visions before he died. That made his death more personal to me because I think as humans we all wonder what happens to us when we’re dying. In Tyreese’s case he saw not only people that he cared about, but people that made an impact in his life, even if it was just in a small way. Hearing Lizzie, Mika, and finally Beth tell him that it was ok and that things were better now helped him to accept the fact that he was dying and that it was ok to let go.
Just my thoughts.

I couldn’t help but reflect on Tyrese’s misfortune in regards to who he travelled with. He had spent so much time with Carol, a person who knew when to call it. She would have said “Look at the flowers!” and helped him pass with dignity. Poor guy was drug all over the place in a hopeless attempt to rescue him.
I felt for him, but it was his time. There’s really no place in the apocalypse for his type. He was so pure and maintained an innocence that didn’t sit well with current state of the world.
I really appreciated the visual effects throughout this episode and think it was an amazing way to say goodbye to such an integral character. RIP.
Having Ty around for as long as we did, especially with Hershel taking his more gruesome fate, had me investing more in his character emotionally. Here is a man who may not always have been the best, but he has taken what seems to be more soul crushing losses than many of the others. I was hoping that the act of removing the appendage that was bitten would be enough, but it took too long, and he lost too much blood. Ty was a savior for people that had already been lost in the comic universe. He had some low points, but he kept going.
Ty has taught Sasha what he could about the inevitability of loss in their world, and while she will take it hard, she will continue on. She’s strong. The group will move on, because that’s what they must do. Not because they want to forget, but because to dwell on these things would drive them all insane.
They’ll make it to DC, but what they find will be anyone’s guess. Hopefully they get a break and fall in with one of the walled communities from the comics. These characters have been on edge since the prison, and I’m afraid they’re going to start cracking beyond repair.
I’m going to really miss Tyreese, but at some point the story has to start moving towards the different communities and civilization Rick has in mind. I’m looking forward to the “good vs. evil” aspect of this world, and if they keep killing off members of this group, its gonna be tough for them down the road. I did notice some possible foreshadowing when Glen picked up that bat……
The visions was a refection of what he saw our what he didn’t prevent from happening and he had a part of every ones death the vision he had weather it would be good our bad I think he felt guilty for the way things went and the visions he seen kinda helped the ease of his own death and to be able to come to terms with the after life of cause he knew he wanted all this end and knowing he wasn’t the person he once was and know why he died tonight cause he didn’t have the fight in him anymore with guit he had and he didn’t have the rage in him anymore after he seen so many ppl close to him come and go may u rest in peace tyrese u were a good man

It truly takes the sadness of life to appreciate the beauty of death and all that Tyrese and the rest of the TWD family have gone through. And, with the special guests that appeared that were a part of Tyreses’s extended departed family, his story came full circle… as did theirs. Without Tyrese, the days will be that much shorter and the nights that much longer. RIP Tyrese. And, Chad… Thank you for bringing a character into our homes on a weekly basis that we grew to love, respect and understand that much better.
How fantastic & sad all at the same time! The 1st half of the season left with a bang & returned with a bang!
DAMMMM, what an episode. I also noted that foreshadow w/ Glen and the (Lucille) Bat 😉 😉 lol, I also seemed to think that while Rick and the group were at the Hospital and the Church, it seems the ALL OUT WAR might’ve already happened and passed at Noah’s lil’ Town. Just my thoughts. Can’t wait for next week, but after Talking Dead gonna watch this episode again, like usual. 🙂 Great Job

Loved seeing the Gov. and Beth, (guess the petition worked lol), and other dead peeps, like Bob, but missed seein’ MERLE, but i guess he wasn’t quaint w/ Tyrese
Can’t believe he died… One of my top two favorites. Sad times
It was a nice touch that they tried to redo project Hershel Greene with Tyrese, but in the end with the support from Beth, Mika, Lizzie, and Bob he decided for himself enough was enough. I was honestly amazed that they decided not only to kill of Beth but another hugely influential characters in the Walking Dead tv series. However I think that this will make Sasha a stronger person, and make her a more crucial asset to the group in future episodes. I think though that Tyrese’s death will be the heaviest on Carol. Although Carol killed off Karen and David for the safety of the group, when she owned up to Tyrese about it being her fault, he forgave her allowing for their relationship to build. Carol and Tyrese were together throughout the end of season 4 and beginning of season 5 letting their relationship grow closer and closer.
Didnt see them killing of another main character that quickly but thought the episode was really well done. I was happy to see Beth briefly come back as he was slipping away. Overall it was a really good episode, looking forward to see where they will go next. Obviously if they follow the comic ASZ will be next but the show doesnt always follow the comic verbatim so well see. Cant wait till next episode 😀
Although I didn’t expect Tyreese to go so soon. But I like that the walker that bit him was the Governor in his hallucination. A nice nod to his comic demise.
Hey guys first time commenter here but long time follower. I loved the way this episode was shot but hate to see Ty go. He may not have been the Goliath he was in the comics but still a great character. I loved the subtle nods to the comics in the episode. I thought it was cool how the walker that attacked Ty was the hallucination of the governor and loved the fact that the place the group met Ty in the comics, Wiltshire Estates, turned out to be the place where the group lost him, but as Shirewilt Estates. Did anyone notice the “Wolves not fair” sign left behind in Shirewilt? It can’t be a coincidence that there was a shot of wolves in the scenes from the next episode can it?
This episode was done very differently than any before it. The death of Tyreese came seemingly out of nowhere and will, for the most part, go unnoticed. For the group, it is just another stab to their morale. Losing Beth was a real blow to the heart, showing that people can not be saved in this world anymore. With Tyreese gone, it just adds to that theme that the “good” can not stay alive. Tyreese battled himself over this, with Martin commenting that if Tyreese hadn’t been the guy he is, things would have gone differently. Bob reassures him, along with most of the rest, that this is the way things would have always gone and that everything would be okay. This just hardens the theme that if you can’t stay pure in this world if you want to live. What volumes this speaks to the group is yet to be seen.
That being said, I feel like this was the right time for Tyreese’s death. What is to come will surely be more gruesome than anything the group has seen before. The group will have to face hardships and really find who they are, without losing themselves hopefully. I think we will see the most change in Sasha because the two people who brightened her world, the optimist and the caretaker, have just died. I would assume this will cause her to think that if you are like that in this world, you will die. Thus, she will probably be a bit emotionless and tough for a while, until something or someone changes her.
I have no doubt that the group will head to DC, as they should. I do not know what they will face on the way there, but I feel like they will lose a bit of who they are as people. When they do get to DC, I am sure they will find Alexandria Safe-Zone. Not only that, but they will learn to start living again, instead of surviving. They will find themselves and have faith in the world again until some tragedy strikes.
This episode was definitely different from any episode I’ve seen so far, honestly Tyrese’s hallucinations reminded me a little of Jim’s death in season one. I remember feeling his pain when he said he felt like his “bones were made of glass.” I felt for Tyrese in tonight’s episode. I think his final moments were intended to show us how strong of a character he really was, and to give us a little bit of closure with the more recent deaths. In the source material Tyrese’s character (though flawed like any normal human) was sort of a morale center for the group, Ricks sort of sidekick who kept him grounded. Kind of like Daryl does now. I was curious how Beth’s death would ripple through the group, now we’ll have to deal with the loss of another strong character. Too bad he didn’t over hear Ricks “you are not safe” speech. Great job. Great show. P.s. I swear if they put Glenn near another baseball bat before “spoiler spoiler Negan spoiler” I’m gonna throw up.

Was a solid episode. I thought Tyreese might have survived without his arm.
Just like Sophia and Mika, Tyreese didn’t have a mean bone in his body. He was not meant for this world. We will miss you so much Ty! RIP Tyrese. Take care of Lizzy and Mika.
That episode was trippy. So that’s what it’s like to die? It was interesting to see death from the point of view of the dying man. They haven’t done that before on the show (and I kinda hope they never do again- dragging out a death like that every time would slow down the pace).
It’s really brutal of them to kill 2 important characters in as many episodes. I hope they don’t keep up the pace like that, or there will be nobody left at the end of the season! Writers, please no more deaths of major characters for a good long while. We fans can’t take it!
I hope they will get to Washington, and I hope they’ll find someone alive there… preferably someone good. It seems like most of the humans they meet in this show turn out to be bad. And they haven’t had much luck with finding safe places to be since the prison. I can tell they’re all tired and traumatized after all they’ve been through, especially Sasha, who’s just lost both her boyfriend and her brother to zombie bites in such a short time. I hope she’ll be ok.
Yea such a great episode, im alot more down with the “stupid title” ,as im sure i put it before, than i was after seeinf the episode, and it was also shitty to see tyreese go even though i voted for him, had my fingers crossed hed be ok as a righty but alackaday, my crossed fingers didnt help, hope sasha gets reeeeaaal mad and starts fuckin shit up, pumped for the future
I knew it had to be Ty or Carol dying once they showed Mika and Lizzie because they were the only 2 who knew what happened to them
That episode had a completely foreign vibe to it, I felt like I was watching the show through a very different lens. At first I thought it was just being artsy for the sake of trying something new, but then the visuals and the symbolism started to come together and make more sense. Is it possible to have a violent but gentle death? Because that’s what I think I saw…Also, I have A LOT of questions about the chopped up walkers and the pile of torsos that landed on their hood.
Anybody else think we’re going to see a new villain/group that is responsible for the burned And dismembered bodies, torsos stuffed in a truck, and burned down houses? Also, the radio transmissions may not have anything to do with it, but the broadcast seemed to depict events similar to what may have happened at that village: “burning villages, killing the innocent”
Great episode, sad to see Tyrese go that way. I get the feeling that Wiltshire fell victim to the show’s incarnation of the Saviors. I believe I saw something referring to the “Wolves” painted on the walls of the town, and the walkers had “W”s carved into them.
Fucking awesome episode. Definitely some Negan action being referenced and foreshadowed here. First of all I couldn’t help but think that the houses at Summer Place (I think it was called) looked awfully like the houses in Alexandria after Negan’s grenade assault in AOW. Then there was glen going all Louisville Slugger. Finally there was that message saying “WOLVES NOT FAR,” so clearly there is some freaky shit that went down.
What I am most curious about is those bodies. Any theories on the bodies cut in half and what the “W” means that is carved into their head??? All I was thinking is that maybe negan was looking for some easy people to cut up and use as guards for his sanctuary, much like we see with his use of zombies in the book.
Tonight’s episode was amazing and heartbreaking. To lose Tyreese in such a manner was equally beautiful and morbid. Of all the people to be in Tyreese’s fever dream/hallucination, The Governor seemed like an odd choice. The rest made sense, but he did not. But then I remembered how Tyreese died in the comic book. Well played Walking Dead, well played. There were a lot of great references back to the comics in this episode. While Tyreese was off communing with the spirits, I liked how Glenn picked up a bat and used it to smash some zombie skulls. Is that Ironic Foreshadowing? If this episode is any indication, the rest of Season 5 is going to be powerful.
This quote to me sums up Tyreese.”Death is only a level crossing from one life to another, from life in its beginnings to life in full achievements. From this incomplete life to that transformed one.” I think Tyreese had come to peace with himself. Realizing the world he lived in was no longer where he belonged. He had served his purpose and he knew his contributions will live on with the group always.
I loved how at the beginning of the scene I thought the funeral they were having was for Beth but instead it was for Tyrese. I love how the show makes me think I know what is going on in the show but proves me wrong lol. When the gang was at Wiltshire, oops, I mean “ShireWilt”, I noticed one of the neighborhoods signs I believe was named “Summer Place” was cover with leaves and unkept plants, which made the sign look like say “Sum Place”. I think that symbolizes what Michonne was saying and how they need to go to Washington to not only to survive but to live. I really thought Tyrese was going to live and thought he was going to get a cool sword hand like Merle. I loved the cameos from all the deceased characters especially The Governors. When he walked in it reminded me of Ra’s al Ghul from The Dark Knight Rises. I though The Governor was going to say, “I told you I was immortal”. Overall, another awesome shocking episode. Can’t wait till next week!
I forgot to add! Beth and Tyrese need to keep their eyes on the road while driving! Safety First!
This episode not only tortured Tyreese but also the viewer. Only difference was that Tyreese got to die and I got stuck having to wait over an hour for Talking Dead to start to see if anyone agreed with me!
I couldn’t help but think how think ironic it was for Glenn to use a baseball bat. For you people who haven’t read the comics you will soon find out. Soon….. Any who! What a great episode! It may be my favorite episode ever! Tyreese really shone through in this episode and it was great to see, yours truly, back again! Yeah! For those of you who don’t think this was a good episode, make sure to understand that this episode was never meant to be a standard episode of TWD. It was meant to be something different. It was meant to be a trip down memory lane and a look into Tyreese’s character so that the audience felt something for him when he passed away. He was a fighter through and through. This episode captured that and was able to drive the story further. If this is a teller of what is to come than I’ll be ready for the ride!
Tyreese’s death wasn’t a surprise after viewing the poll results of, Who is gonna die next. But the death was different from others we have seen so far. That aside, I think Rick and Co. will go to Washington and try to find an already established community or try to make one.
I knew it! I just knew they were going to kill Tyreese! I didn’t expect it to be so soon. I loved his hallucinations. It was great to see some of the characters we lost. (Martin, Bob, Lizzie, Mika, Beth,….THE STINKIN’ GOVERNOR) Those were some sweet cameos. Overall I feel that this episode was very well directed. It was sad to see Tyreese go, but at least the episode he died in was pretty much all about him.

Glenn almost got conked over the head with a baseball bat in 501, and now IN 509 Glenn uses a baseball bat as his weapon. I feel like they will stick to the comics for the first Negan kill unfortunately. Hopefully they choose someone else to get killed other than Glenn.
One last comment: I love that Rick’s machete seems to be his new weapon of choice.

Sad about Tyreese and I figured the conversation would be dominated by that event, but seriously what the heck was with the armless walker torsos in the back of the truck at the end?? Assuming it’s the same folks who torched/firebombed Shirewilt and our gang will encounter them soon enough?
Yeah, all about Ty… but I just wanted to mention that my heart went out to Noah, too. Heart cracked with Noah, broke apart with Ty.
Did anyone else have an overwhelming urge to slap that bat of foreshadowing right out of Glenn’s hand? NOOOOOOOO!!!!
There was so much symbolism and foreshadowing in this episode I thought my head might explode. “Wolves Not Far” written on a wall, Dead End sign on the bedroom door where Tyreese was bitten, Governor turns into walker, Tyreese saying “This isn’t the end”, Glenn picking up the bat, the 1/2 bodies outside the walls, torsos and heads in the van (marked with a ‘W”), Glenn breaking the CD apart, I could go on and on. Also, I think most of us have heard about them setting the clocks to the season/episode number. But the clock on the radio that was playing while Tyreese was hallucinating had a clock appeared to be set to 5:10. Is this foreshadowing again? Really can’t wait to see what’s coming in the rest of the back 8.
Nevermind. After I watched again the clock is at 5:09. But still…so much mystery in that episode to unravel.
I’ve never read the deal on the time/ep #… now I’ll be looking for clocks/watches.
Reunion episodes are usually all kinds of BS but leave it to The Walking Dead to make it an amazing experience. Loved all the foreshadowing; even the stuff that may or may not be foreshadowing like Glen and that baseball bat. That will be both a sad and amazing episode if they stay even slightly close to the comics…if and when it comes…

Oh, we’re going to see a lot of characters that we care about die; the question is “which ones?”.
In all the reviews and comments i’ve read regarding this weeks episode, it seems as though many have glanced over what i believe to be a small yet important detail which adds to the depth and richness of the episode. Rather than recap the episode, i’ll add that Tyreese’s hallucinations were juxtaposed, quite vividly, by the reality of his situation in that he was dying and we all know that those who die in the world join the ranks of the undead. Amidst the metaphysical battle for his soul between both the perceived good and evil of his recent past, in a few scenes, we see the undead, the physical reminder of life and death in this world, also grasping for Tyreese. First, the most overt example of this notion is when the phantom governor becomes a walker and bites Tyreese. Next, there’s the walker that comes straight for Tyreese in the slow motion battle scene after Rick and Co. open the gate.Then, there’s the walker that Rick tells everyone to leave alone as they try to rush Tyreese to safety. We see this walker, from Tyreese’s perspective, getting every bit closer to him as Rick and Co. pull him through the wired fence. When they finally get to the car, Rick hits the truck in front of them sending all these dismembered walker corpses flying out the back of the truck and onto the windshield of their car. Again, from Tyreese’s perspective we see the walkers on the windshield chomping at him. Now i don’t remember if this last reminder happened during or after the aforementioned scene, but there’s a scene where Tyreese looks over at a car and sees the shadowy figure of a walker inside the car, banging against the window as if calling out for him. All of these instances act, symbolically, to remind Tyreese of the physical realities of death in this world and what will ultimately become of him once he passes.
Overall, an excellent episode. Maybe one, if not, the best by far in its depth and universality.
What an amazing episode, just incredible, and all the best to Chad Colemane in what he’s doing next. We got to say goodbye to more than just Tyrese with the girls, Bob and that poor young idiot from Terminus. “Powerful” just doesn’t say enough.
I liked, the way Shirewilt turned out – very neat, making use of those strong images from the comics, drawing together the strands of story from both universes for a while. And have you noticed that Glen still seems to have that bloody baseball bat? The writers are totally messing with us, I’m just surprised it’s not wrapped in barbed wire. Negan is so on his way, Glen better learn to duck.

The way Nicotero explained it is that Ty’s hallucinations were of the people who have had an impact on him relating to his perspective of the brutality of the real world vs the kind of person that he is–the non-violent guy who refuses to kill. Although he expressed his feelings about killing walkers to Karen at the fence in the prison, she has no bearing on his mindset as to whether or not he did all that he could do & it was OK to be like he was.
The best and most heartbreaking clip show episode I have ever seen on television. The only thing that would have made it better would be Hershel’s severed head talking to Ty.
Did anyone else notice Noah’s mom? And then what nicotero said about her later on?

I honestly didn’t think much of it when I saw her, she just seemed beat down. But He specifically brought her up saying:
“Even Noah’s mom, you know, she wasn’t shot. Her head was sort of partially BATTERED in”

I didnt watch ttd yet so thats deadly to know it was noahs ma, the girlfriend said something about how it looked like seeing that person effected him so ill have to tell her she was spot on, oh and also wouldnt it be nuts if they….didnt introduced negan?
I hope to god that they do Negan right. All of this build up can’t just be all for naught!
It’s sad to see him go, but I hope that his death isn’t going to be in vain. He kept the group’s humanity, he reminded me of Hershel (RIP) but everyone got their time and sadly his time was now, I hope his death will in some way lead the group in the right direction making them better people, and helping them find a better place. RIP Tyreese S3-S5 You won’t be forgotten.

Are the writers becoming desensitized? Yeah, I know TWD is based on a comic book series, but Where is the love? Beth dies and then it goes straight to the funeral last season; not even Maggie touches her lifeless body (unless they cut that part). Now, Tyrese dies and, again, straight to the funeral. The love IS the hope; it was there in earlier seasons. Please let people show love again after someone dies – it will soften the blow for us. Thank you.
