Last week we ended with the entrance of Abraham, who is VERY well known amongst comic fans, but not so much to the television audience. Will this week help out? Leeeet’s find out:
At the outset, Glenn’s just waking up in the back of Abraham’s truck. He frantically quizzes Tara about the school bus. They passed it (and the destruction there) three hours ago. He screams at Abraham to stop the truck as we go to the opening credits.
Carl and Michonne sit down to breakfast, where it’s fairly jovial until Carl brings up Judith and stops mid-sentence, realizing she’s dead (or at least as far as he knows). Michonne goes into the kitchen and Rick thanks her for making Carl laugh. Rick says that they’re going to stay for a bit while they figure things out. Rick stays at the house while Michonne and Carl go out for supplies.
Rick bandages up and finally puts on a clean shirt (seriously his shirt was getting NASTY) and settles down for a nap.
While Rick gets some shut-eye, Michonne tries to get through to a surly, down Carl. Not even his love of processed cheese in a can is able to break him out of his funk. As they enter the next house, Michonne finally tells Carl that she had a son. This raises all sorts of questions from Carl. Michonne promises to answer one question for each room they clear.
As they go through the house, Rick is asleep back their temporary home. He hears voices and people entering the house. A guy is begging to stay with the group and we hear the group beating him. Rick manages to hide his stuff and get under the bed right before one of the group enters the bedroom. It’s a tense few moments as the guy checks the room and then lies on the bed, right above Rick.
Back to Michonne and Carl on their supply run, Michonne answers Carl’s first question: her son’s name was Andre Anthony. That’s going to be a trivia question at some point.
Michonne is treating the house like a gallery, taking in all the artwork. She answers Carl’s second question: she just had one child. And after he brings her a painting, she answers number three: her son died after the outbreak. Bonus answer: She has not told Rick or anyone else.
Michonne heads down the hallway and finds a toddler’s play room. She goes into the connecting room and finds two beds, two corpses on each, carefully laid out, shot through the head. It looks like two younger girls on one and two older girls on the other (I think they’re girls, I think they’re older—it’s a little hard to tell). A copy of Skybound’s Super Dinosaur is resting on the chest of one of them. As Michonne places a talking teddy bear onto the bed she realizes there’s another corpse in the room. It looks to be the mother in a rocking chair. Dead from a gunshot to the head. Michonne is disturbed.
She leaves the room and finds Carl. Carl guesses “There’s a baby in there.” Michonne counters by saying “It’s a dog.” Carl looks down and reveals that Rick let him name Judith. They head back to their house which is where…
Rick is currently squished under the bed. Another stranger comes into the room and tries to lay claim to the bed. The two men come to blows. One of them crashes to the floor and sees Rick but he’s choked to death before he gives Rick away. The victor takes his turn on the bed, and Rick is still stuck underneath.
We cut all the way back to Glenn, who’s gotten Abraham to stop the truck. As Glenn tries to walk back to the school bus, Abraham stops him. He introduces himself and his two companions: mulleted Eugene, and non-mulleted Rosita. Abraham reveals that Eugene knows what caused this whole thing (!!!) and he needs to get Eugene to Washington. When Glenn asks what it was, Eugene says it’s classified. Glenn leaves anyway and Tara offers to show him the way back to the bus.
Abraham goes after Glenn, and tries to convince him to come with them by saying that Maggie is almost certainly dead. Glenn reacts by punching him. Abraham tackles Glenn and they tussle. While they’re busy, Eugene sees a walker come out of the woods and then more come out of the corn. Eugene being Eugene, he loses control of his rifle and sprays bullets everywhere. Abraham, Tara, Glenn, and Rosita all open fire on the walkers. When the firing stops, the walkers are dead and so is the truck. Good work, Euge.
Back to Rick who slowly pulls himself out from under the bed. As he looks for a way out of the house we can hear the guys downstairs saying that a woman has been staying there, and they’re planning on raping her when she gets back and they laugh and argue over who gets to go first.
When one of the strangers heads back upstairs, Rick slips into a bathroom only to find it occupied. He’s forced to choke the man to death before slipping out a window, dropping to the ground, and crouching on the side of the house.
While this is going down, Abraham’s working on the truck, declaring it officially dead. Glenn leaves them, Tara follows, Rosita follows, and Eugene convinces Abraham to go with them as well. As they head through a town Abraham tries to convince Tara that getting to Washington needs to be the priority. They argue about their moral character, and both imply that there might be more to them than it seems.
Rick spots Michonne and Carl approaching the house. Just as he’s about to pull his gun on one of the strangers, there’s yelling inside the house. Rick uses the distraction to run off with Michonne and Carl.
The last scene of the episode is Rick, Carl, and Michonne on the train tracks. They come across a sheet telling them about Terminus. They follow the tracks.
WHEW. Tense times for Rick this episode.
What do you guys make of this group that invaded the house? Bad news, huh? (Robert talks about whether we’ll see them again or not in our chat this week)
How do you feel about Abraham and his crew so far? Comic fans, are you feeling Cudlitz as Sgt Abraham Ford, yet?
And–WAIT WAIT WAIT–Did Eugene say he knows what caused this?!?!
COMIC FANS, LET’S NOT SPOIL THIS! I want this to play out for people that don’t read the comic. Also, if you don’t read the comic, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? The apocalypse?

I really liked to hear michonne open up
Rosita how you doin
Abraham!!!!!
I can’t wait for next week. Daryl’s episode baby!!
Is the biker on the porch Negan?
Doubt that they would introduce him so early in the show; compared to the comics.
I know Negan doesn’t show up for a while but the reason I thought it could be Negan is because of the actor. That was Jeff Coburn. He is a huge character actor and I doubt he was cast for nine seconds of screen time.
Just my opinion but I think that group in Ricks house were the Hunters (Cannibals) from the comics
I bet it was the group Abraham was with before things happened because they were talking about rape. (If you read vol 10 you know what I’m talking about). So if/when Abraham meets up with them again, he’s going to do things to those guys. I think similar to how they handled the hunters. And by then, rick and possibly Ty will meet up with Mullet Man’s group.
I know it’s the show and is different from the comics, but didn’t Abraham kill the group you are talking about? I can’t remember because I haven’t read it in a while, but I thought he opened up to Rick about murdering the shit out of them.
Yeah, Abe ripped them apart and his family left him because of it. They couldn’t believe what the apocalypse had turned him into. But then again, different medium, different turn of events.
True, but maybe that didn’t happen in the show yet.
I’m thinking the same thing
I think it’s the marauders that end up attempting to molest carl
That’s what I thought too.
It would seem like that would be them.
My wife hasn’t read the comics, and asked me what the big deal was about Abraham as the show was starting. All I said was “trust me, you’ll love him”. Right on queue, Abraham flips Glenn off through the window.
I laughed really hard when he did that classic
Don’t you thing we need to talk about Eugene ??? And hellllooooo rosita
I really dig Rosita, she is such a hottie…rather strange episode…not bad, just strange…the Michone/Carl scenes…the strangers in the house…Eugene shooting up the truck…can’t say I expected an episode anything like this…
Did you see Eugene’s little smirk? He shot the truck on purpose #themanwiththemulletandhismasterplan
Exactly, Eugene doesn’t actually want to end up in DC and end the mission. 😉
y not wouldn’t he want to solve the problem
No…don’t answer…no spoilers! Brian asked us not to!
Awesome show tonight! Can’t wait for next week. 🙂

who would be the leader if Rick and Abraham were in the same group?
I have to agree with Mr. Suave above… Rick would earn the respect & Abraham would do what needs to be done.
Rick ofcourse
Happy to see a few more characters from the comic. .really glad to see Abraham
Rick. Abraham is more of a follow orders and get the mission done kinda guy, for the time being at least. Edited: lol just realized I meant to respond to the comment below. Happy to see Abraham as well though lol
Agree.
haha its cool
#RicksJacket
sweet
They all (except for Darryl and Beth) seem to be on the same train tracks–Tyreese and his group saw a sign for Terminus, didn’t they? I’m hoping they all meet up there, and then perhaps this mission becomes finding out what happened, and what to do next…? Love this show so much.
I dont think Maggie’s group is on those tracks…nor Glenn’s group…
beth and daryl were on the tracks; beth fell apart when she saw the boot.
it seems like maggie’s group and glenn’s group are the ones left to find terminus signs. what is terminus?
I think Terminus = the hunters = a trap.
That punch Glenn landed Abraham….woa! Chris Hardwick: “He went George McFly on Biff”!
I’m feeling Cudlitz for Abraham but in the back of my mind, I also see Ron Perlman.
I actually see Ron Pearlman as Negan. Problem would be is He is in his 60’s and Negan is much younger.
I haven’t gotten to Negan in the comics yet but from what I’ve seen/heard, I’ve got Billy Zane pegged for that one!
I think Mark Strong would be a good match for Negan. He was great in Sherlock and Kick Ass. He seems to be good at playing pricks and that is exactly what Negan is.
haha that wouldnt be bad. Plus it will keep the trend of British antagonist/protagonist 😛
I always thought a younger Ron Perlman would be the perfect Abraham. I’m not sure about his acting chops, but I think Henry Rollins would be pretty great as Negan.
Rollins certainly matches the looks! I’m not sure about the acting.
Ricks bed + Rosita + crazy cheese = A FUN TIME!!!!!
I am really liking Abraham’s character because he has been hot headed like how he started in the comics. I fucking hated his character when he first showed up, but the more I read I started to like him until he was eventually a favorite character of mine. I’m not sold on Eugene yet. His mullet is badass, as expected, but he just seems different in the show. In the comics he spoke up and would go on with his bullshit, but so far he has just been an awkward person standing in the background like he is waiting to be picked in gym class. Hopefully we hear more out of him in the future episodes this season.
The entire episode was horse s#@% …..here I waited highly anticipated for a major shocking episode of The Walking Dead and they gave us a huge pile of poop. The new writers are no where near the same page as the first seasons of The Walking Dead, I was literally caught up in the show because of the mystery of NOT KNOWING what’s going to happen next and watching these characters question their own humanity. I foresee this GREAT show losing many followers because someone doesn’t know how to write a SOLID storyline, come on do you really think anyone would take Abraham, Rosita, and Eugene seriously if they knew what caused the apocalypse and decided to mutter the words “it’s Classified”……NOBODY CARES about “Classified Information” anymore it’s been over a year since the outbreak, plus if one person knows the secret why all this happened you better believe he would need more people guarding his mullet than Abraham and Rosita…it’s laughable. In reality to save humanity a secret of huge significance like what caused the dead to come back to life WOULD NOT be something I would take lightly from a small group. Consider this everyone has lost someone they loved or cared about during the apocalypse and then you run into a small group who is on a mission from GOD to get a lone scientist with a mullet to Washington because he knows what happened but doesn’t want to reveal what he knows or if there’s a cure or not, If it were me I would stick my rifle so far up his butt and empty the freakin clip you better believe he will be singing a different tune than telling me or anyone else “its classified”….Another thing the whole scene with Rick under the bed…come one seriously??? I know Rick is still recovering from a major ass whooping but I don’t believe he would crawl under a bed like a child would to hide he would of had some type of weapon and defended himself like the alpha male that he truly is. Rick has to have some kind of major anger inside still after the whole prison incident and grieving over Judith. The only believable part was when Rick killed the guy in the bathroom, he could of easily got to the gun on the bed and used it against how ever many guys were in the house. Overall the entire episode was a failure to tell a story that would capture my interest because of the lack of believability, there was no immediate danger to any of the main characters except Rick. This is suppose to be a dangerous world there is no time for rest and relaxation.
In regards to the Abraham, Rosita, and Eugene remarks. Sorry to tell you but that isn’t bad writers on the show. That is pretty much what went down in the comics as well, except they are with Rick’s entire group at that point. As far as Rick hiding under the bed and not defending himself. He isn’t stupid, so he wasn’t going to do anything stupid. He gave his gun to Carl when he left with Michonne, so he didn’t have a firearm. As far as taking the guys gun from the bed. He could have but that would have been fucking stupid to take that and start shooting up the place. Where is the tactic in that. He had no clue how many people were in that house. What Rick did was the smart thing and is why he is still alive at this point. So again, not bad writing.
The show depicts a very small portion of what happens in the comics, and the rest is deliberated between what the producers and writers come up with. Rick could of had another weapon ( baseball bat, knife, sharp stick, telephone wire. etc…) I know Rick isn’t stupid but he’s not a 5 year old kid hiding from the big bad boogey man, he could of hidden behind a door or closet. Tactic or just plain stupidity he had every opportunity to defend himself against whomever was in the house. It really didn’t matter if Rick shot up the house, the gunshots would of attracted walkers and taken care of the other people in the house and Rick still would of gotten away. The episode was a complete failure due to poor storyline and lack of believability.
Those gunshots attracting walkers would also put his son and Michonne in danger as well. Think what you want, but how Rick handeled the situation was the smartest, safest way to handle it.
You have to look at how bad of shape Rick is in I mean come on he was just in a semi coma the day before. He didn’t know how many people was in the house. Sure he could have got the gun and went all RAMBO on everyone. He didn’t know how many was in the house how many was out of the house and it was time for Michonne and Carl to come back to the house. What he did with the guy in the bathroom killing him and cracking the door so the walker would come out was awesome
You do realize that Rick is alive because he’s not stupid enough to try to take out a group of well armed bandits, who talked about raping the woman when she came back? He had to get out quietly before Carl and Michonne got back. This episode was great on so many levels; so much better than the crappy episodes we got in the first half of season 4.1 filled with gimmicky walkers raining from the sky and popping out of bushes. Rick’s actions were totally what a realistic person would do if they wanted to live, as opposed to your preferred scenario where weak ass Rick singled handedly takes out a group of well armed bandits, smokes a cigarette, and rides into the sunset.
Not only that, but keep in mind that Rick was physically weak. He was unconscious the day before.
The only thing that stuck out to me and didn’t make sense, or wasn’t addressed…when Carl and Michonne are going through rooms at that house, in the bathroom, it looked like the mirror was fogged up. Why?
I didn’t catch that…could it have been dirty?
I thought the guy choked out when Rick was under the bed, was just put to sleep. Not killed. Seems odd the guy would 1st. kill someone on his team so easily and 2nd. go to sleep with a ticking zombie time bomb laying on the floor.
Also, thought the guy in the bathroom was just choked out also.
I know there is a commotion in the house that distracts the guy on the porch but it could just be one of the guys finding the toilet guy passed out and not turned into a zombie.
As I remember, that was definitely the sleeper hold for the 1st guy. From Rick’s viewpoint, you could tell that he was breathing (not the snoring from above). As for guy #2 that Rick took out, I took that as a kill, especially since Rick cracked the door. The commotion was more intense than if they just came across the guy laying on the floor in the bathroom. It sounded like a walker attack.
I agree. The toilet guy Rick killed turned and caused the commotion.
I really love how they are showing all the scenes from each group’s perspectives out of sequence. It leaves a lot of room clues hidden wide out in the open. For instance, I had to watch episode 10 twice to realize that Lizzy mutilated those bunnies we saw when Daryl and Beth pass by. That one was a bit obvious now that I think back to it though. After having watched the three newest episodes several times, I think that the group of bandits that ransacked the house Rick’s group was staying at are the same people who Tyreese tried to help save at the train track in episode 10. The last guy alive looked suspiciously like one of the guys in that bandit group. I also think Terminus is a trap; it’s going to be the show’s version of the hunters, where they lure people in and cage them up like animals they use as food. I think it’s even possible that bandit group are part of the hunters/Terminus (if my theory holds up in the end).
i say ricks a total basdass so hes gonna kick whos ever ass
