Last week on The Walking Dead, Daryl and his crew managed to score the medicine they were looking for but hadn’t yet returned to the prison and Rick told Carol to leave the group.
At the prison, Glenn and Sasha are getting worse while Hershel does what he can to keep the survivors alive. They remove the almost-dead from the quarantine area before stabbing them in the brain, so the others don’t have to see. Glenn is getting worse, and has Hershel talk to Maggie on his behalf so that she doesn’t have to see how bad he’s gotten. Hershel checks in on Dr S is who very sick when he tells Hershel that with their limited resources they need to focus on the savable.
Rick comes back sans Carol. Maggie agrees with Rick’s decision and warns him that the herd at the fence is getting large again.
Hershel puts down another recently deceased patient when Rick comes to see him. He tells Rick how they’re burning the bodies out back—that’s what they’ve come to. When Hershel goes back inside, he finds Sasha collapsed. As he helps her back in bed, one of the recently deceased reanimates. She attacks Hershel and all hell breaks loose.
Meanwhile Rick and Maggie are working on reinforcing the fence. Maggie hears a gunshot and goes inside to help while Rick works on the fence. As Maggie tries to get into the cell block, Hershel deals with more and more walkers.
Out at the fence, Carl is doing his best to help when it fails. Carl and Rick retreat. They get assault rifles and start slaughtering the walkers as they come in.
Maggie gets into the cell block in time to help Hershel and together the two of them intubate Glenn, who is not doing well at all. But the procedure works and Glenn lives.
While Rick and Carol mop up the remaining walkers with crowbars, Daryl, Michonne, Tyreese, and Bob return with the medicine. Just in time to save Glenn and Sasha. Whew.
As life seemingly returns to normal, we see the last shot of the episode: The Governor silently watching the prison.
He’s baaaaaaaaack. I want your predictions on what his plans are!
The governor wants total carnage
Such a good episode so intense
The governor has been there the whole time
He is the rat man.
He did look a bit unkempt…even dirty, perhaps? I don’t think he is as strong of a threat as he was when he had all of Woodberry behind him. That was my impression.
he doesn’t have his army, but his willpower is stronger than the boyish pranks from earlier like knocking down the fence.
What a great father son moment with Rick and Carl . Nothing says I love you like mowing down zombies with automatic weapons
That scene was so epic. I guess rick decided he cant keep him from the zombies, so he teaches him how to either shoot or run.
So excited about the governor
I expected this
They need to bring Carol back please please…. Daryl is going to be very mad when Rick talks to him…
if he gets mad he gets mad its a better decision . she thought she was smarter than the group
shes so coming back. Her name still rolls in the credits. I think Daryl will go after her. She has become that guiding point in his life and holds the kind of power over him as his brother did. I don’t think he will blame rick or even fight him. But i do think he will be upset and do something rash like going to get her himself.
Rick and Carl got zombie kill of the week
holy crap what an episode #killcarl
“If you like your doctor, you can keep your… oh, no.”
Goodbye Dr.Caleb.
haha I get it
Lets see the governor has a check list. Kill Rick kill Daryl cut michonne eyes out destroy prison and take Ricks kids as his own
Think Michonne is pretty high on his list. He has no real vendetta against Rick except for the fact that Rick is in charge. He already killed Merle which was the other half of his anger.
My guess:
Carol will find out about the Governor in her travels
and save the group from him in the season finale.
*Mid season finale
That could totally work! I’m going with your idea!
Hey brain you said carol instead of Carl a few times in the recap
Hey Chris, you said “brain” instead of “Brian”! lol
lol
Well played good sir. Well played I figured if you could do it so shall I so shall I .
The governor will take carol as his First Lady
doubt it
Chris hardwick is too funny
Those two dudes with him were really funny! That was a good Talking Dead!
Hershel has a rough episode tonight
Hershel and his limp
How did Glenn survive when blood was pouring from his mouth and the other person that came out of the cell looked just like he did, but he died and Glenn survived. Glenn looked like he was on death’s door.
Because Glenn is a trooper! Or, as Daryl said, “one tough son of a bitch.” That, and that particular guy was like that for HOURS. You’d be surprised how long a person can hold out when they can’t breathe. Suffocation is a slow, slow process.
Glen had hope. Glen also wasn’t bleeding from the eyes just yet. Only choking on his blood.
The governor is going after Michonne. Will Carol join the governor?
No I can’t see her doing that, because she seemed to know why she was being kicked out of the prison for
the Governor will go after Michonne because he has nothing else to live for. Carol won’t join him, but I think she will find her way back. Her Exile is temporary. If she turns while being kicked out the group will never be the same, so there’s a plan for her.
funny how the governor is just so calm .
All that running around looking for the Governor, and all Michonne had to do was stay at home.
The Governor came back after he heard about Spaghetti Tuesday!
As soon as it panned down to The Governor, I said “Oh look it is Captain Eyepatch” that wasn’t suppose to be funny at all.
The Governor’s already tried to SWAT the prison….he’s got only 2 tents pitched beside his own…what can he really do except try to find them in a vulnerable spot & pick them off one-by-one? Either way, I think whatever plans he may come up with will be foiled by the herd coming. And yes, after all that shooting, they’re COMING! I feel a comic book moment coming on!
I agree that Michonne has definitely softened. I realized that when she casually tossed her katana in the back of the Jeep all the while with a big smile on her face.
I know the show is a completely different entity from the comic, but it was a bit unsettling to see how willy-nilly Michonne was with her katana. Her personality-180 gives me concern. Anytime anybody starts feeling like everything might work out all of a sudden, they tend to find out that is not the case very soon.
I hope I’m wrong, though.
She is always smiling now, but I don’t think shes soft. She still goes out for the Governor and still told Ty that she will kill him if she sees him. Shes still bad ass with the katana too.
Finally some tense action and excitement this season! I have a few problems with a veterinarian running around skillfully intubating humans though. I know I know, it’s a show.
Intubating conscious people who have a gag reflex? That causes gagging on the tube, potentially vomiting and aspiration which results in pneumonia and death in an environment like they are in with no resources or respirators. Typically a patient would need to be sedated for it to be successful.
Hesrchel blindly intubating Glen? All but impossible. I have been an EMT and a firefighter for 25+ years. I have not intubated anyone but have assisted paramedics dozens of times. It is difficult enough to do it with the tool and full view of the anatomical structures in a throat full of blood, vomit and other fluids let alone stuffing it in in one shot blindly. If you don’t hit the trachea you end up with it in the esophagus and pump air in the stomach causing distention and vomiting. In drowning or cases where large amounts of fluids are in the airway there is something called laryngospasm. Your throat closes up. I have seen medics struggle and be mostly unsuccessful intubating someone due to this even with all the right tools and full view.
Glen surviving choking on his own blood and fluids like that is also a long shot in that environment. Even if Herschel lucked out and did hit the trachea instead of the esophagus, with lungs full of fluids and blood you’re not gonna ventilate a patient when the lungs are clogged with crap. I suppose we have to see it play out but pneumonia is a high probability and if Glen survives this it truly would be a miracle (of Hollywood). In that case maybe Laurie should have survived being butchered as well.
I hope the show isn’t taking a turn down the road to being like “24” where all the heroes live and no one but Jack Bauer can do anything to save them!
The little detail that I couldn’t get is why Hershel didn’t flip him over on his side.
He did, twice.
I’ll pay closer attention next weekend; I always watch the previous ep before the new.
I mean, if we are talking logistics, there are a number of things one could argue on a number of cases. Don’t poke holes where one can assume the best happens.
hey did you know zombies arent real? just asking..
That, plus everybody running around shouting, “It’s the flu, the flu. We’ve all got the flu virus” and therefore going on the hunt for anibiotics, that tells me that they don’t have a good team of medical experts advising them. Unless you’re going to say that it was Bob who said to look for anything ending in -cillin and Bob is a screw-up anyway…. But you, questionable medicine was practiced on Lost. Although they were on a magic island, so….
The Governor wants in and with his twisted ways, may prove otherwise. Now that
Daryl, Michonne, Tyreese, and Bob return, we have backup in case the
Governor has other ideas. We know…he wants Michonne for what she did
to his EYE! That is still burning inside him. His split personality
will play out but Carl is smart and will sense this guy has to be put
down or feed him to the zombies. But the Governor is tough and would love to see Rick in showdown with him… The Governor is here to stay for a while. As long as we have Daryl, Michonne, Tyreese, and Bob, let the fireworks begin!
I don’t think The Governor wants in. I think he wants the prison to crash and burn like Woodbury did. He’s not driven by survival like the group. He’s driven by revenge.
I agree. Michonne killed his daughter. Forget revenging the eye. He will get to Michonne no matter what even if he has top be a wolf in sheep’s clothing and ask to join the group.
They are going to do a back story and show what the Governor has been up to and we will find out he ‘found’ a swine flu virus in a lab and introduced it into the prison water system causing the sickness. We will also find out he has been luring the walkers to the prison area to cause further stress. He will not be seen for a couple of more episodes until we find out Carol has joined him unknowingly and she will be the one who saves the prison by killing the Governor and their will be a big fight within the prison to decide whether Carol can or cannot be allowed back in after she killed the Governor, they vote to let her back in and Rick takes Caleb and ventures out on their own in the season finale.
I’m pretty sure next episode will chronicle The Governor’s adventures from the end of season 3 to now. It’s easy to say he’s the rat man, but not inconceivable that he has someone on the inside. Or had. Maybe Carol found out who the mole was and killed him or her (David and/or Karen). Then she allowed herself to get kicked out so she could track the Governor’s movements. As wily as he is, The Governor could never prepare for that. Carol will save the day…and die doing it.
I hope I’m wrong. After watching the episode, I was stressed for Herschel the whole time and thought for sure his time on the show was up. I don’t think I can handle someone from the core group dying. I wouldn’t mind “zombie whisperer/blood floor painter” Lizzy kicking the bucket. She creeps me the f*#k out.
Hey Elden, That’s true…. which is why the gang is reunited back together after being split up ,so that will make for some interesting scenarios. The Governor lost his so-called sanctuary… and with Darryl and the gang… it’s fair game on the Governor, and if Michonne discovers him first…. its a fight to the finish.
Michonne is so dying next… The only reason they would bring the governor back this season is because she has a personal vendetta with him. Rich let it go pretty much. Now at the end of this episode she went out. Problem is she took Hershel and his limp with her. I think the governor will ambush them. Probably threaten Hershel. She told Ty that if the governor were standing in front of her, she would kill him where he stands. Lets see if she does.
Wait a minute here! Isn’t anybody worried about Rick’s hand? I am so worried about Rick’s hand. It was a quick shot, but dramatic nonetheless. That thing is bleeding through the gauze. Oh, please, Rick, take some of those antibiotics. I know Kirkman said he’s not going to go the same route as the comics, but I think a big drama is coming up regarding Rick’s hand injury, which resulted from that scuffle with Tyreese.
Sexy
cant wait to see what the governor has up his sleeve and what happens to carol!!!
Please leave the prison! It’s geting boring, even the governor can sheer things up:/
Governor is waiting for someone to hang around the outside of the prison…and that is just what Michonne and Herschel left to do. I am really worried for both of their lives; especially Herschel. After all he has done and survived…he is such a good guy…and the Governor so is not.
The Governor looks like he is in some sociopathic daze. It is like an extreme version of Carol’s state. I wonder if the two guys that decided to hang with him are still alive?
The creepiest thing in the show for me was when Lizzie (the little girl) was playing with the infected blood with her shoe. Ticking time-bomb right there.
I am also really freaking out about how Daryl is going to react to Rick!??!?!!? I really don’t know. What do you guys think????
Something happens to Hershel, it’s gonna hurt like Dale for me! I’m sure I’ve seen some video of Martinez & Bowman & there’s the clip with the two tents beside The Governor’s, so those guys are still around. I’m like you on Daryl’s reaction. He’s got a lot of respect for Rick, so I can’t help but to lean towards him understanding, especially taking into consideration how things went when Merle was sent his own way and Daryl followed. Still, I think SOMEBODY has to be upset at the fact that Rick made the decision on his own!
I feel you on Dale, and I totally agree with you about Daryl. I wonder if it is Lizzie that will freak out about Carol. And now I’m worried about Michonne. I just figured she’d survive, but now I’m scared…
Maybe Lizzie will be the first point of contact for ol’ one eye on the other side of the fence!
I don’t like the way Michonne is now. No more flea jokes and smiling…I need her cold as ice & ready to slice-n-dice at all times! THAT’S the Michonne that intrigued me!
Herd’s coming…Governor’s lurking….
3 more eps to mid-season break (AW MAN!!)
I think the Governor came back because he realizes he has unfinished business with Rick. He also wants Michonne because she killed his walker daughter and she stabbed his eye. I’m thinking that he may be poisoning the pigs and feeding the rats to walkers. It may be that he is responsible for this sudden flu that is occurring in the prison. If so, then Rick and the rest of the survivors have yet another reason to kill the Governor.
I think Hershel is gonna get Tyreese’d, if you know what I mean…
The newest episode of “The Walking Dead” was awesome. I know for sure the next episode will be just as crazy. Not that there will be many walkers, but between the people.
http://whataboutthatepisode.wordpress.com/
It’s taken me a while to gather my thoughts this week. What a crazy episode. Reminded me of the second episode this season, except for we were hurting from a few different things so it was a perfect time for it. The thing I wanna focus on was Hershal and his Bible. We see him pull it out to read, but he just can’t. I find it inspiring that he still holds the book. He doesn’t toss it aside. Even Jesus wept. So why should Hershal not be allowed a moment. Sometimes you got to much emotion to focus on what you read. Hershal still keeps his spirit. We see it when Daryl tells him “you’re a tough sumbitch”. He replies Yes I Am.
As for Lizzy, I always said that girl was getting a little crazy. Shes Carol’s little minion so it will hit her hardest. Does anyone even know what Carol did in front of the little girls? Hershal has since to take the people out of the room, and lead the walkers away. What would they say if they knew that? It seems that Lizzie is disconnecting, and soon will not have a tether, as she will kill her sister. Just a hunch.
Daryl will react the same way Maggie did. I mean, come on. He even said to Tyrese that they catch the “sumbitch” who did it. He might not be super thrilled at Rick’s decision to cast her out, and he may go after her, but he won’t be as upset as everyone makes it out to be. He may just go to join her like he did when he found Merle before returning to the prison.
And, we gotta have noticed how no one can really be trusted, especially when it comes to their loved ones and death. Did anyone see how the father refused Hershal admittance to see his son and kept giving excuses? Hershal should have demanded to check. Then, maybe not so much chaos, but his son came out, but his dad’s arm, where he shot the woman who just saved Hershal, causing chaos. Yes, there was already chaos, but he had a gun, and had he only gone ahead and made his peace, it could have all been calmed easier.
And of course, let’s salute the father son moment of Carl and Rick mowing down the zombies. Like Carl said, you can’t keep me from what always happens. So at least teach him how to embrace it.
And to those mentioning Spghetti Tuesdays, those are on Wednesdays.
I believe that when they finally do off the Governor, it will be Carol doing the deed.
What a better way to say welcome back than to kill public enemy #1.
Even more triunfal her arrival should be if, after killing the Governor, she spells it all out and grab Carl by his hear and take him to his father, Rick the Prick, to “allow” Carl to tell him a very nice tale about some barbecue he did in the backyard of the cell’s block. Muahahahah, hummm, tasty!!!!!
hardcore
Hershel was the boss!!!!!! I think he from now on is starting to carry his on knife. No more walkers = momentary sick people, isn’t that right, Hershel? Crippy little Lizzie, drawing with her boot on a poll of blood. Carl and Lizzie, match made in haven, 2 potential serial killers in mini size start bonding: “Lizzie, sweettieQuote “Spaghetti Tuesdays on Wednesdays” was Tauuu! The Council reached an agreement! Eheheheh
