The Walking Dead Season 8 will undoubtedly raise the bar on crazy. Jeffrey Dean Morgan recently called the upcoming season “ballsy,” Chandler Riggs teased there would be “lots of killing,” and Norman Reedus admitted it “feels like our show again.”
If that’s still not enough for you, Entertainment Weekly spoke with Michonne actress Danai Gurira to get her take on the bloody new season. “It’s like nothing before,” Gurira beamed. “We’ve all been knocked clear off our feet, and there’s just so many ways everybody’s story is expanded and deepened and sharpened. And the clashes that we’re in take turns no one’s going to expect. And at the same time, it remains palpably human, you know?”
Although we’ve seen Michonne and the gang battle the likes of The Governor, Terminus, and countless walker hordes, Gurira insists this season is nothing like what we’ve seen before. “That’s what’s amazing about the writers of the show, is that they don’t tread the same ground. So you can’t be prepared for it. If you thought, ‘Well, I’ve seen this, I’ve seen that, so I can be prepared for what’s coming next’ — no, you can’t. You won’t be prepared.”
As unpredictable as this season will be, what CAN fans expect? “It’s definitely a season that is going to knock everyone off their feet,” Gurira says confidently to EW. “That, I can guarantee you.”
