Back in Season 6 Episode 5 Maggie revealed to Aaron that she was pregnant with Glenn’s baby. Back then, Negan hadn’t shown up and Glenn, Abraham, Sasha, and Carl were still alive. So it’s no wonder that 38 episodes later fans are wondering why this Bonnie from Family Guy-like pregnancy is so prolonged.

It’s understandable that fans are anxious for the arrival of her baby (which she names after her father Hershel in the comics), but there IS a reason we haven’t seen it. Although the first five seasons of The Walking Dead spanned over a couple of years, the time between Season 6 and now has only been a couple of months. Chris Hardwick grilled Executive Producer Denise Huth on the matter during Sunday’s Talking Dead (video below). “A lot of our episodes are direct pick-ups – especially this season,” Huth said. “We’ve had five or six episodes that have covered literally one day.”
How far along is she? “She’s probably right now about the end of her first trimester. It feels much longer, I know,” Huth said. Although some fans are worried the baby may never come, Huth reassured them, “I have no doubt there will be a baby eventually.” If the show follows the comics timeline, then Maggie will give birth AFTER All Out War. If it really follows the source material then there might be a couple year time jump where we meet the baby as a toddler in Season 9. BUT, it is The Walking Dead and anything is subject to change.
Let us know what YOUR thoughts are on Maggie’s baby. Should she have the baby right after the season? Do you hope they do a time jump? And should they stick with Hershel as a name? Let us know in the comments.
I’m not thinking of Maggie’s baby at all. Won’t be, until it’s time for one to pop on out. Too much other good stuff going on anyway. No, Maggie should not have her baby while she’s at the end of her first trimester. That should have been Lori. No, I hate time jumps. Time jumps suck. No, baby should be named after GLENN, DAMMIT! GLENN!!!
