AMC made it official today, announcing Scott Gimple as the new showrunner of The Walking Dead. Scott’s been with the show since season 2, both as a producer and a writer and he’s written some really strong episodes, including this (upcoming) Sunday’s episode, “Clear.”
In other production news, both Greg Nicotero and Tom Luse have been promoted to much-deserved Executive Producer status. Greg’s work is fairly evident on screen but Tom is equally valuable behind-the-scenes, keeping day-to-day operations running smoothly on set, no small feat for a show this massive.
Huge congratulations to all three guys, between the writing team and EPs, I think the show’s in really good hands for season 4.
He wrote this past Sundays episode or the upcoming one?
I hope Greg nicotero stops directing episodes , the episodes he has directed have been the lamest ones. 1 zombie ate an entire human carcass bones and all? not to mention the ninja walker that killed dale. Stick to what you do best Greg!
Congrats to Scott! Peace out mazzara!
Too bad no Darabont…he set the bar high. Was skeptical of Season 2 & 3 but not disappointed, and will be skeptical of Season 4. Here’s hoping!
I actually didn’t like darabonts approach. Wasn’t a fan of the zombies being able to climb fences, run, and turn door knobs. As well as the zombies with memory ( little girl with the teddy bear).
Yeah, those are good points…he could’ve “cleaned it up” a little bit….but the rest of it got me HOOKED! I haven’t been this hooked on a show since Mighty Mouse!!!
Everything other than the silly zombie moments was awesome you’re right . I just wouldn’t want him to return and I’m glad he’s gone. You can’t mess up zombies in a show about the zombie apocalypse
