Here we go again. I don’t say that with the exhausted tone one might expect coming from someone embarking on a companion show while also working on the sixth season of the original. Truth be told, I would have to fill this space with exclamation points to accurately represent just how excited I am about Fear the Walking Dead. It’s so cool for me to be expanding The Walking Dead universe in such exciting and new ways. Those have been our buzzwords since we first started talking about this show: “exciting” and “new.” I’m so happy to finally be to the point where we can share the show with the world and everyone can see exactly what that means.
The Walking Dead has always been about the characters. It’s been the struggles of Rick, Michonne, Daryl, Maggie, Glenn, Carol and the rest, who are equally as important, but if I were to list all the characters in our cast it would take up more space than those exclamation points… and if I included those we’ve lost along the way? We’d be here all day! It’s been the characters, the people of this world that have brought viewers back episode after episode for what is now going on six years.
Now we get to introduce you to Madison, Travis, Alicia, Nick, Liza, Chris, Daniel, Ofelia and well… the cast continues to grow each episode… and yes… we do lose a few along the way. But where the “exciting” and “new” comes in… is that these people have their own experiences and reasons to survive. They’re complicated, real characters who will not be dealing with the undead the same way. They’ll learn new things, they’ll find new tools, they’ll learn faster or slower but what we end up with is a very, VERY different show… set in a world we LOVE exploring as much as we’d all NEVER want to live there.
I want to thank everyone reading this for being at least some small part of helping us grow into The Walking Dead family. We started small, and we’ve grown and grown year after year as more actors, writers, directors, critics, fans, Facebookers and Twitterers have joined the mix. And now, with Fear the Walking Dead, that family is growing even more… and I know we’re all going to open our hearts… and guts… to give these new additions a warm welcome. I think you’ll agree after watching this series… they’ve earned it.

Well I personally can not freaking wait! Just 2 more days til Sunday and we are right in it!! Also proud and happy to be a small part in the huge and forever growing bigger, TWD Family!!
And all the DeadHeads of TWD fandom say….
Amen.
That’s sweet, I love when writers take the time to share their excitement and thank their fans. We luv u, Robert.
To say that, we, TWD fans are excited would be a huge understatement. I can’t wait to finally have something else “dead related” during our show’s down time. I’m loving that we finally get to see what happened in the early days of the ZA. Two more days to go, then it’s on!!!!
Forgot to mention, that we see who Patient Zero is, and although they’re not going to go too much into detail, it will be fun to see if they throw us enough info to speculate how she was infected. Patient Zero is Gloria, who appears to be the girlfriend of Nick, that we see in the first three minutes of the show that was just released.
But there can’t be a ‘patient zero’ because “EVERYONE is infected” it didn’t just spread like a virus, anyone that died ‘turned’
Is this “TWDTRUEFACTS” or “TWDNOTTRUEFACTS”? Or is she simply the first infected person we see?
Exactly… This “true fact” is only true in the politician sense of the word, not the real world everyone else abides in.
Yeah just the first undead person we see but there will be other dead coming back to life at the same time as her elsewhere
Yeah, I haven’t officially confirmed with RK, but I’m pretty sure there’s a misinterpretation somewhere. I’m 99.9% sure they in no way establish that she’s the first zombie/walker/roamer/biter/groaner/slider/deadite/whatever. And I’m 90% sure they would never do something like that anyway.
You forgot Lurker, mate.
Oh and yeah, can’t wait for this show, really can’t wait. All these years of zombie tv and films and we’ve barely seen the initial stages of the outbreak, it’s what we’ve been waiting for. Kirkman, thank you!
Absolutely cannot wait for Sunday. I haven’t been disappointed by Kirkman yet.
this letter so reminds me of a letter that Kirkman wrote in the front of the Marvel zombies TPB where he says he didnt want to be the “Zombie Guy” . . . . oops.
