After taking a week off from the beautiful John/Naomi backstory episode our Fear the Walking Dead character Power Rankings are BACK! This week’s shocking episode not-so-shockingly altered our Week Six list for both the past and present timelines.
“BEFORE”
1. Madison
Madison proved this episode that she’s still queen of the past timeline. She had a heart-to-heart with Strand, stopped Naomi from leaving, followed her to a shady hotel, got left at the shady hotel, followed her to a FEMA Camp, saved her from the walkers, and even chased Mel and his people away from the stadium! She’s by far the most powerful character in the stadium.
2. Strand (+1)
Strand was also instrumental in helping Naomi this episode. Although reluctant, he came in the clutch and helped rescue her from the horde of walkers at the FEMA camp. Plus, he’s Madison’s most trusted friend.
3. Naomi (+1)
Naomi’s getting bumped up because 1) Mel dropped down, and 2) we finally got more of her backstory, which shifted her status from a deserter to someone mourning the loss of her daughter and friends. No wonder she doesn’t trust anyone. Although she’s staying with the group for now, something obviously happens to her to turn her into a Vulture. Unless, she was a Vulture the whole time…
4. Alicia (+1)
We ranked Alicia this high because Madison entrusted her to prepare their Plan B in case the stadium falls. That’s a lot of power – and it’s good to see Madison trust her so much.
5. Mel (-3)
Mel got bumped down because he left the stadium and abdicated his mission to wait them out. It’s not the last time we’ve seen Mel in this timeline, so watch out for him to rise or fall in our next rankings.
6. Luciana
Luciana helped watch the stadium but didn’t do much else of note this episode.
7. Nick
Like Luciana, Nick also didn’t do much outside of watching the stadium while Madison and Strand were away.
8. Ennis (NEW)
We’re adding Mel’s brother Ennis into the mix because he will soon play a much bigger role in this timeline.
9. Cole (-1)
Cole’s mostly getting bumped down because we added Ennis. Also, Cole didn’t make a huge impact this episode. Speaking of, where is Cole in the present timeline??
10. Charlie (-1)
Charlie also got moved down for her skills at standing around watching things happen around her. Until she does something crazy or noteworthy again we’re keeping her at the bottom.
“NOW”
1. Mel (NEW)
Now comes the real shake-up in our rankings. Mel IS still alive in the current timeline, and since he and his people are currently holding Alicia’s group at gunpoint it’s clear he has the most power right now. Also, he has their old friend Naomi in his ranks!
2. Naomi (NEW)
Speaking of – it was shocking to see Naomi still alive AND a Vulture. How did we get to this point? Why does Alicia hate her so much? Does it have to do with wherever Madison is? We have a lot of questions to answer, but for now Naomi is high in the rankings.
3. Alicia (-1)
Damn it, Alicia! You shot our boy John Dorie AKA the sweetest cowboy of all time AKA the Scrabble king AKA the nicest dude left in the apocalypse! Even though she was aiming for Naomi, Alicia still made a major move that will affect all of our characters. And that, my friends, is power.
4. Strand (-1)
Strand made a bigger splash in the past timeline, but he’s still vital for the present.
5. Althea (-4)
While everyone fights Althea just chills nearby with her camera. We can agree that documenting people’s stories in a zombie apocalypse is interesting, but it’s not helpful. Althea is Fear’s version of The Watcher from Marvel comics. Thanos would be threatening to destroy the universe and The Watcher would just be documenting him do it nearby. That’s why Althea’s getting moved down.
6. Morgan (-1)
Morgan has power because he got everyone to come to this stand-off, but we’re knocking him down a bit because this is the worst ambush on an ambush in history. Why were all of his people just waiting out in the open? Why not offer yourself up as bait and then have your friends flank them? Sigh.
7. Luciana (-3)
Luciana didn’t contribute a lot in either timeline this episode, so we’re moving her down.
8. Charlie (-1)
Present Day Charlie wasn’t so different from her past counterpart – lots of standing around and watching people do stuff. Until that changes we’re keeping her low.
9. John (-3)
It pains us to do this but we have to drop John to the very bottom of our present day Power Rankings because he’s gravely injured (thanks to Alicia). If he heals up we’ll move him up, if he dies we’ll take him off. DAMN YOU, ALICIA!
That wraps up our dual character Power Rankings for Week Six! What did you think of the lists? Let us know in the comments!
