Very exciting news on the OBLIVION SONG front today! We’re developing the hit Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici book into a film with our partners at Universal Pictures! Obviously it’s still early stages, so we there isn’t a ton to cover, but we have some quickie bullet points for you!
- Skybound Entertainment and Universal Pictures are developing sci-fi drama Oblivion Song, based on Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici’s comic book series of the same name.
- Sean O’Keefe will write the script.
- O’Keefe’s latest project, Wonderland, which stars Mark Wahlberg with Peter Berg directing, recently wrapped filming. O’Keefe sold the first script based on the Robert E. Parker Bestselling “Spenser” book series in a deal with Netflix.
- Oblivion Song will be produced by Skybound’s film team, including Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Bryan Furst, and Sean Furst.
- Oblivion Song takes place a decade after 300,000 citizens of Philadelphia were suddenly lost in Oblivion. The government made every attempt to recover them but after many years they gave up. Nathan Cole won’t. He makes daily trips, risking his life to try and rescue those lost, alone and afraid, living in the apocalyptic hellscape of Oblivion. But maybe… Nathan is looking for something else. Why can’t he resist the siren call of the Oblivion Song?
- Universal’s Executive Vice President of Production Jon Mone and Director of Development Lexi Barta will oversee the project on behalf of the studio.
- The comic book series is published by Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics and created by Robert Kirkman (writer) and Lorenzo De Felici (artist). Annalisa Leoni is the colorist, Rus Wooton is the letterer, and Sean Mackiewicz is the editor.
- O’Keefe is represented by ICM Partners, Symbonic and Goodman Schenkman & Brecheen, LLP.
As always, these things can take a while, and we for sure want to get it right! We’ll have more info as the project develops and we can share it.
OBLIVION SONG #16 hits stores this week! Be sure to hit your local comic shop to pick it up.
If you haven’t started the series yet, what are you waiting for? Volumes 1 and 2 are available now!
Ok so… invincible A few years away from production! Birthright production….. Now Oblivion production… can anyone see a pattern or is it just me? It all just seems to be getting a bit blah blah blah and nothing actually appearing… how hard can it be to actually write a script when most of the donkey work has been done!
