Telltale Games announced their next Walking Dead season will be their last. Premiering in 2018, the final season will let players play as Clementine as she tries to survive during the zombie apocalypse. Here’s the behind-the-scenes announcement video followed by the press release:
Fourth and Final Season in Critically-Acclaimed Telltale Series Will Follow Clementine in Lead Role
SAN RAFAEL, Calif., July 19, 2017 — Leading publisher of digital entertainment Telltale Games and Robert Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment, announced today that the critically acclaimed The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series – The Final Season (working title) is now in development to premiere in 2018.
In a series retrospective released today in celebration of Comic-Con through Telltale’s Summer 2017 Update, the development team at Telltale sat down to reflect on the journey of series protagonist ‘Clementine’ since the first episode premiered in April of 2012. In discussing the character’s path all the way through 2017’s conclusion of The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, Telltale confirmed that this fourth and final season would focus on Clementine in the lead role, allowing players to fully step back into the shoes of the fan favorite character.
“It’s going to be an amazing experience. Thank you all so much, from the bottom of my heart,” said Melissa Hutchison, the award-winning actress who has been the voice of ‘Clementine’ since 2012. “It’s been a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, and so much love has been behind this whole experience. Good luck, I’ll be right there with you.”
The Walking Dead: The Final Season (working title) will debut in 2018 on consoles, PC/Mac, iOS and Android-based devices. Additional platforms are yet to be announced.
Tell us in the comments how you feel about the news.
About time Skybound takes the IP away from those incompetent devs. @Kirkman , how about moving Clem to the comics? or having her own comic series? or her own animated series with Melissa Hutchison as her voice? Clem is $$$, don’t waste her like this.
Well its very disappointing,i only play telltale 4 the walking dead,so i guess u lose a customer . What a shame as popular as the twd is that you just end it. Wheres your Imagination ,so many other characters in twd world to make a series ,every1 would buy it. I have enjoyed all seasons except 4 new frontier ,it felt like it had no heart,no characters except clem was good. Most characters was annoying .Im a cryer too, when im involved n the story made me care bout characters ,i cry at happy moments and sad. There were no moments like this, character development was bad.The closest i came was when after clem left aj that 1 girl brought her supplies and they had a heartfelt conversation .But i had 2 refer 2 her is that girl bc who knows what her name was bc no character development ,just new ppl we dont give 2 shits for
I’m not sure how to feel about this. If this is just the end of Clementine’s story and the Walking Dead will continue then I’m fine with it. If not then I’m sad to see it go but Telltale are still awesome anyway. To be fair, I think Clementine’s story should’ve ended with Season 2, there was really no need to continue her story after that.
I think Telltale should do a Rick story, follow Rick from the very beginning, it doesnt even have to be part of the comic or tv universe allowing freedom of choice. Also whatever we see, come on, give us some choice! Our decisions do not change the story, that nonsense at the beginning of each episode lies to us every time!
