If you haven’t heard about Shawn Martinbrough yet, you must be living under a rock. The THIEF OF THIEVES artist recently wrapped up art for Marvel’s BLACK PANTHER, has worked for every major publisher in the industry, and even made a book about drawing noir comics. His art on THIEVES- accompanied by Felix Serrano’s colors- are both subtle and vibrant.
It’s my pleasure to give you FIVE THINGS TO KNOW! about Shawn Martinbrough:
“I attended Fiorello H. Laguardia High School of the Performing Arts and Music and Art in NYC. The influential pop artist Keith Haring spoke at an assembly and I had no idea who he was at the time. I do now.”
“One of the greatest comics that I ever read growing up was Avengers Annual #10 drawn by the great Michael Golden.”
“I will take breaks from the art table to bike around the White House and Capitol building to clear my head.”
“I watch films for visual stimulation almost as often as the average person listens to a favorite song.
Ask me how many times I’ve seen “The Last Boy Scout”.”
“I drew Robert Kirkman, Nick Spencer and Sina Grace in the first issue of “Thief of Thieves” and no one noticed!”
