New World Order has finally arrived in The Walking Dead. This issue led our characters closer to Stephanie, or whomever Eugene was talking to on the radio in the first part of the New World Order story arc. But what did YOU think of the issue? Do you like where the story is going? Tell us that and more in the comments below for a chance to win a Robert Kirkman-signed copy of the issue!
UPDATE
This month’s comment contest winner is Maidenfan 18! You’re right – this story arc IS a game-changer. We’re glad you’re exciting for the future. Check your email so you can receive a signed issue.
Honorable mention to Jamessssss2018, who predicted that Negan would return as a baseball legend in The Commonwealth’s stadium. Probably won’t happen – but that would be a thrilling storyline.
Previously: It all started when a woman named Stephanie spoke to Eugene through his radio. She belonged to another community, far away from Alexandria. After earning her trust, Eugene was given a location, and Michonne led him and a small squad on a long journey west. But after arriving at the rendezvous point, they didn’t find exactly what they were hoping for.
Ummmmm… still trying to process whether or not I trust this guy. But my goodness, Michonne?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow
This is completely unrelated to the comic, can anywhere tell me why my photo isn’t showing up? My Facebook is connected.
I know what’s coming! When the gang move there Negan is going to become a baseball superstar in the commonwealth with 50,000 chants of “NEGAN! NEGAN!” Every matchday in the stadium.
What an awesome issue!! I’m not sure if I trust the leader yet and I’m still spectacle of the princess but I hope she turns out to be a vital member.
Really enjoyed Eugene and his courage in this issue. It’s almost out of character but I guess it’s because he’s such a coward in the show that it’s hard to believe this is the same guy. The ending was just WOW!! Now the photo was of Michonne right? Not her kid. Her kid can’t be that old. I can’t wait for the next issue to see what happens!! Please Kirkman as much as I love the Negan issue last month, please don’t follow up on his story, let me see what happens in Ohio first!! 50 thousand people in this community! Our group needs this right now! Another community that large will be such an asset to us! If this community can’t be trusted then we are really screwed because of how large it is. We definitely need this right now, specially with a broken Rick and Dwight questioning his place.
this issue is just great. love to see some more folks joining the story and especially the michonne piece is amazing. really looking foward seeing what will be the speciality in this arc. especially who is gonna be the new badass…
Kirkman you fantastic bastard! That was a great greeat issue! I really look forward to where this is headed. Looks to legitimately be the next big thing in the series and genuinely feels like a new era in the comics.
The Commonwealth community has around 50,000 people!, a stadium with concerts and football games and what looks to be a strong military type presence watching over things. Rick and his group of communities really seem like small fish in a massive pond now. Where the hell will the story go? With that many people it leads to so many possibilities for storylines. And that ending with Michonne’s daughter appearing to potentially be alive in the Commonwealth! Just wow.
Have to think this is a gamechanger in the world of the comics and Commonwealth will be around for the long haul. So many possibilities!
Genuinely did not expect that Michonne twist. Wow. I reread #139 right after this and that issue takes on a really interesting new dimension in terms of foreshadowing – even though we think of Michonne as such a longstanding character, because she’s so guarded, there’s still a lot that’s not known about her. I loved the photo of her too. Her haircut, the law office. So different. Another world. And while introducing a long lost relative could be so hokey, 175 issues in, the bit of luck has absolutely been earned.
The Princess continues to be awesome. Lance is pretty cool. Second mention of the covered-in-blood guy as Stephanie mentioned him too; got to wonder what his story is. Can’t wait to meet Stephanie too after 2 years.
The Commonwealth look fun so far but I get a feeling their “overwhelming force first, discussion second” approach will lead to a very aggressive first meeting with the Five Communities. Which could be fun.
The comic continues to be absolutely brilliant. I love the constant surprises and great characterisation. The art, it can never be said enough, is phenomenal. Now I’ve just got to cross my fingers that the 15th anniversary celebration involves a few double-shipping months at least to get us through these 5 week wait months – they’re a killer!!
For some reason I was going into this issue expecting to be dissapointed….I wasnt….this issue was neither good or bad rather your basic meet new people and get to know one another…I liked the twist at the end….still dont like the Princess….shes starting to come off as a cheap knock off of Negan for comedy bits that are not funny with a snowflake SJW mindset…..lots of questions still to be answered in the coming issues
The new community felt like something out of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Running Man with the Storm Trooper armor and the gameshow persona of Lance Hornsby. If you add in Princess’ pink fur coat, we are definitely heading towards the 80s action era of cinema.
Here are the rest of my thoughts:

I’m excited at the possibilities the story will take in the future with what seems like the potential for an endless supply of new characters plus a stadium, sports teams, a bakery plus what will likely be stores, shops etc..Basically an entire community just like Alexandria, only so much bigger and with more weapons..both literally and figuratively.
Exciting times to be a reader of the comic! Kirkman better still plan on going to issue 300 or more. 🙂
Actually a much better issue than I have expected. Commonwealth guys felt a bit too aggressive, but after all, they have to be careful about who they invite into their community. Rick wasn’t much different when he punched Aaron in the old good days and threatened to overtake Alexandria. It is really going to be suspense to see how this new party exists and works. Is it a fine, Alexandria-Hilltop-Kingdom-styled areaa, or a wet dream of every rotten communist, where nobody owns anything and everybody has everything? We will have to wait. I’m so happy for Michonne, this revelation may completely change one of our beloved characters, especially if there is going to be a conflict. 50 thousand people is a huge number, but it is not definitely 50 thousand of highly trained warriors. Living inside a safe compound makes people weaker, we know that.
I already hate Lance Hasselhoff, or whatever the hell his name is. That ending though… was not expecting that!
There is life yet in the series. At the very least, it gives the show an out… if it survives that long.
The show’s out is AOW and it needs to end there.
I absolutely LOVE the thought of Commonwealth and all of the possibilities that comes with it for storylines.
My only question though, is how will Kirkman maintain a sense of danger going forward? I mean, this appears to be a living, breathing community of 50,000 people with a military type presence watching over things. I highly doubt the dead will play much of a role going forward, and if so, they will be easily disposed of..even moreso than usual.
We have to figure that going forward most of the danger will revolve around internal problems with individuals and factions inside of Commonwealth. Looks to be a turning point in the comics and I’m looking forward to its future!
Man, if I’m one of the long term characters in that scenario, while I’m excited at the information I’m learning…I’m also PISSED!? Lol
Imagine being in a group and dealing with finding friends heads on pikes, being stalked and getting their legs eaten by god damn cannibals, watching friends get their heads bashed in via baseball bat by a maniacal leader, and dealing with a group that literally wears roamer skin.
…all the meanwhile down in Ohio people are watching concerts in a huge stadium, cheering on sports teams and enjoying treats at the local bakery.
Did our group get the shit end of the stick or what?
Princess had me rolling on page 2, Can’t wait till she meets Rick, Rick has always been kinda a grump. Her super happy attitude might be just what he needs 😀
The issue is awesome. Another time Kirkman did it! I can’t wait for number 176. The new scenary hace a los of possibilities. It is exciting. Congratulations. TWD Forever and Skybound together.
Phenomenal issue. Complete page turner. Did not expect that ending, at all. This issue made my eyeballs orgasm. 10/10.
I don’t trust Lance Hornsby one bit. Even the preppy name sounds suspicious. And his people in their stormtrooper outfits…trouble. I am really liking Princess though, she’s so much fun! She reminds me of Negan in a way, with her sense of humor. But that last page…wow! I thought Michonne only had one child and that he died at some camp at the beginning of the zombie apocalypse? Or am I getting the show mixed up with the comic? Anyway, this is really exciting and I can’t wait until the next issue!
Welcome to TWD Commonwealth, you won’t find any nuka cola here, but there’s a hell of a lot of ghouls running around and rampant. No there ain’t no “Diamond City” in that stadium but I know a guy who’s pretty good with a swatter. Will you scavenge alone or join a settlement? To which faction will you pledge your allegiance in this dilapidated world? Stay tuned to see one of the apocalypse’s sole survivors search for their missing child.
Fuck, Robert. For Real ? Damn. I mean Commonwealth ? Fifty fucking thousand people ? A fucking stadium ? Wtf man. And that weird boss, Lance Hornsby, that by the way was called “baby” by one of his army of stormtroopers. Wtf do I do with that ?! I can feel the shit going down already man, and already stinks as hell. This is a damn great beggining of a arc, and probably the most unexspected ending of all. My spider sense is already tingling on this Lance guy. Damn man. Hope you still doing an awesome job. Peace.
Lance is not the leader. Just the guy who welcomes the new people. The leader may be the one that’s on the cover of #176. I like Lance and hopefully he’ll stick around. All in all, AWESOME ISSUE!
Juanita “Princess” is a phenomenal character and crazily reminds me of Negan in her sense of humor and innappropriate comments. It would be great for the two to potentially meet in a later issue.
I hope they do!
Second time posting, but first off, I must say, phenomenal job on the art this issue to all those that worked on it. The highlights from the characters being lit up with light looked great. Also, special shout out to the person/people that have to detail Michonne’s hair every panel.
I must say, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Common Wealth’s mediator/liaison, Lance, was so relaxed and carefree. The cynical side of me cant wait to see this character devolve and break down to show their true inner id, but it’s cool to see someone who’s somehow able to sleep like a baby, and wake up in a pretty decent mood while under a walker attack.
From the dialogue with the foot soldiers, it seems as if the Common Wealth has a specific system that keeps it running…..after living so long under a barter/trade kind of system I wonder how the group will react to this.
Lastly, Michonne’s moment. I’m beyond happy to see that her character arc is about to come full circle. Michonne’s past had been a major hurdle for her character, but after releasing her pet walkers and bonding with the other survivors, she seemed to have left it all behind….but after losing Ezekiel, I feared her character was just frozen. While I’m happy that she has a chance to complete a part of her character that was initially missing; I’m also fearful that this will complete her arc…..I just hope her daughter doesn’t have a new family, and then Michonne struggles to be the mother her daughter doesnt need.
Thanks for the great issue!

Now this was interesting. By far the BIGGEST community we’ve ever been exposed to. This is beyond merely a “safe zone.” This is a goddamned miniature country we’re talking about here. These people aren’t just farming and holding festivals. These people are so large they can sustain large cultural events of the recent past like it’s nothing. I am intrigued.
Still interested in how Princess’s character is going to fit into the story as it unfolds. I hope she doesn’t get snuffed out pointlessly like the loose ends of the Whisperer arc did. I feel like behind that crazy there’s an interesting sad story… maybe one of mania? Delusion? I don’t know if anyone in this thread has ever read Swan Song by Robert McCammon but she reminds me a lot of the character “Sister Creep” in that novel. Homeless crazy lady burnt out on drugs and tragedy that is forced back to sanity by the apocalypse.
Oh and holy shit. Michonne. Now… Michonne is a long standing character but I don’t think it’s any secret that she hasn’t had any personal arcs to her character going on for awhile now. Other than supporting Rick, she really hasn’t had much to do. But this… This has potential. I’m looking the most forward to where that’s going.
I need to stop reading these the day they come out………????? also I’m really exited to see if michonne is reunited with her daughter
Wow just wow……
I am excited to see where the story goes with Michonne. This will be exciting either way,
It was great! Made my eyes water. Michonne has been through a lot physically, emotionally, mentally etc. To know where at least one member of her family is is something she needs. Will this be a happy reunion? She did leave them so there could be some drama. Can’t wait to see!!
I love where this is going right now. I am so hopeful for Michonne, and on a side note I am totally in love with how Eugene put aside the death threats and continued to ask about Stephanie. I worry what Stephanie will be but I’m so glad he’s become a brave man. Abraham and Rosita would be proud of him.
Oh yeah, Rick wasn’t in this issue at all but he was on the front cover. Funny, that.
SO MUCH TO TAKE IN! So, tons of new people, a new government, lots of hope, but lots of concern as well. Plus, THAT ENDING! I can’t wait to see if we get a powerful reunion!
50,000?!?!?! That’s the biggest takeaway from this issue, (Yes, Michonne’s child being alive is big too) but 50,000?!? It’s going to be interesting to see the rules the Commonwealth has seeing as they will shoot anyone who knows about them – which is weird right? 50,000 people keeping their mouths shut? Or is this a, “Once you go into the Commonwealth, there’s no return” type of situation?
Always expect the unexpected. Can’t wait to see where the story leads to.
A true breath of fresh air! We are so excited to start this new arc! Can’t wait until Rick’s initial reaction and to see how Negan fits into the story!
This is a great issue and very interesting and new to see a community that has so many people and so many things that have been forgotten from the old world like concerts and sport games which I think is a great addition to the series and the Michonne cliffhanger at the end is like the cherry on top I’m really excited to see what happens next with Michonne and the commonwealth group and also to see what other people will think of the commonwealth group. Great issue and would love to have a signed edition of the issue.
I’m very excited to see how rick and his group of other communities react to this. Rick has never crossed a group so large so if they become enemies that would be bad for him and the group of communities but am very excited to see also how negan fits in to all of this, I think he will become a sports player for the commonwealth group. Which would be awesome to see and the Michonne cliffhanger Is the cherry on top.Overall great issue,I would love to have a signed edition of this issue
I actually first started seeing the tv series. Got hooked onto it real fast. Then I started reading the comics. OMG it was so awesome i finished till isssue #175 in frigging 3 weeks. Waiting for #176 so badly. Man, 10,000 people that’s a lot. I thought that Rick and gis network was the largest group. But this…… I hope these are nice people But Robert tends to surprise everyone and often misguides us (hahahaha). So badly waiting ………
This issue is amazing I love how Eugene didn’t care about the threats he just wanted to see Stephanie,Eugene really has come a long way, and also 50 thousand people is insane if they were to become an enemy they could easily destroy rick and the other communities. I hope negan ends up being a sports player at the commonwealth group how awesome would that be, and Michonne cliffhanger OMG I’m so excited to see what happens next.imagine if rick and the group figure something out about the commonwealth group that makes them a threat and rick decides to try bomb the place but Michonne doesn’t let rick because her daughter is a part of the commonwealth group and they have a fight how cool would that be.Kirkman is doin great things right now with the series and there are so many possibilities of what could happen next and I’m so excited to see what happens. I would love to have a signed edition of this issue. Great Job Kirkman??
Amazing issue never was board, still not sure what I think of Lance but we’ll just have to wait and see Michonne cliffhanger is great really excited to see where Kirkman goes with that and 50 thousand people DAMN let’s hope rick doesn’t become enemies with the commonwealth and can you imagine if negan played as one of the sports players for the commonwealth group that would really bring back memories of when he was a sports teacher before the apocalypse, great issue so excited to see what happens next.Would love to have a signed copy of this issue.Great Work Kirkman??
After reading it a second time it made me think is lance beta maybe I mean he mentions a person that covered himself all the time in guts maybe he was that person, that would be awesome,I would love to have a signed copy of this issue.Great Work Kirkman??
How do you know if you’ve won a signed copy of this issue plz tell me.
Aside from the annoying Princess, this was a refreshingly good issue. Starting to feel eager about what’s next once again.
