“A Fallen House”
Maggie leads the survivors from the Hilltop to Alexandria… to see it overrun with the dead.
Also, holy crap! There are two issues of THE WALKING DEAD this month!
Tell us what YOU interpret these covers to mean in the comments below!
My butt hole just clenched up really tight
So fucking mad about the fall of Alexandria!
Really quite disappointed about this turn of events, sick to my stomach in fact.
There should be at least 2 other communities though, if Hilltop burns down.
So everyone should have somewhere to go, it just sucks that the best place had to die.
SO SO SO SAD 🙁
Maybe they will kill the walker in Alexandria. There is hope 🙂
All the walkers*
Omg…. they actually lost the war…
Maybe they killed all the Whisperers in Alexandria but there were walkers left.
Easy people, easy. We don’t know what this means yet. It could be anything. Looks grim but we know what The Walking Dead is like. The covers are teasers but largely meaningless.
That said, here are my thoughts which might be contrary to what I just said. Looks like for #164 we have some people looking down at the communities. Because of the toddler sized person there, I’m going to assume it’s Maggie with baby Hershel. But who is that with them? Could be Carl based on the hair. His was never all that different from Maggie’s. Could be that the Hilltop fell and Maggie, Carl, and Herhsel are sort of on their own for a bit. Now that would make an interesting combination.
So great that we’ve got two issues. At just the 12 monthly instalments, 2016 has had the fewest issues in years.
That said, I wish this cover didn’t spoil Maggie’s survival (and Carl’s by the looks of things). I have to admit, I had them pegged as goners. No Sophia though…
Also, Charlie Adlard’s covers never cease to amaze.
No Sophia — good observation. Yeah it looks mostly like Hilltop fell given the architectural style of the walls. That doesn’t surprise me since that’s where Lydia was to begin with.
25th anniversary…let’s please NOT do 25 variant covers…yeeesh…. hahahaa
Displacement is bound to be interesting in itself.
Well we know Maggie is going to survive the Whisperer War.
At least my worries for the next issue is down the drain from that previous cover thanks Skybound.
I think Negan’s death is on the horizon. It’s just a hunch, but with the timing of “Here’s Negan”, the start of a new story arch (especially this whole whisperer war was started because of him), it just seems logical. I mean, how else could they keep using him? I don’t know if he could ever be a “good” guy, even if he’s really trying to gain Rick’s trust. I guess we’ll find out soon
So have they basically just spoilt the end of the Whisperer war with this new cover and write up?
So we know the Hilltop falls and we know Alexandria gets overrun with the Whisperers hoard now
Usually they are so careful about keeping story outcomes a secret, so this is a little strange
I mean, covers don’t really mean anything.
Y’all are worried about spoilers and the fate of Sophia and shit and I’m just over here freaking out because WE MIGHT BE BACK TO BIWEEKLY!
Since when are covers reliable enough to be spoilers?
True true
Maybe it is Negan holding Hershel’s hand. Wouldn’t that be something!
Definitely would be insane, but I just don’t see that happening.
So happy about the two issues. So sad about Alexandria. I know that covers don’t necessarily mean anything, but if Alexandria did fall and the whisperers (or walkers, idk) are holding the mechanical hand, I think it’s Rick’s end.
Its Dante guys. Also thats Alexandria on the cover.
It’s Carl and Negan. I’m 100% sure.
I mean, the description mentions Maggie explicitly.
Ridiculously excited seeing this. This new cover brings back some of the fear of the Whisperers. At first they were just flat out scary, we humanized them by de-humanizing them, and then Negan made a mockery of them single-handed…but to see Alexandria overrun and hear that Hilltop may be gone as well… shit… that’s 2 well protected safe zones possibly lost at the hands of the Whisperers…that makes them terrifying again. Can’t wait to find out what happens.
I’m in agreement with a few of you. If I tried to Sherlock the covers I’m thinking #163 looks like Rick’s story arc is over. And #164 is Negan holding Hershels hand standing with Carl. I really HATE to think this is the outcome but for some reason Kirkman has a hard-on for Negan, so I can believe he’d do some twisted stuff like that. PLEASE let me be wrong.
Guys, that’s clearly Maggie holding Hershel’s hand, not Negan lol Look closely. Maggie is even mentioned in the synopsis.
The communities will all fall and everyone will go live with Eugene’s new radio friend in Ohio or wherever she was.
Jesus (not Paul, the guy nailed to a board 2000 years ago).
I’d hate to see Rick die after all he’s been through, but to see Maggie or Carl (I’m betting on Maggie) taking leadership would be awesome.
That said, TWD is known for its deceptive covers.
Oh and it just occurred to me: It might be time to head to Ohio. 🙂
Something else I just noticed. Is Maggie wearing Negan’s jacket? Uh oh.
No, pretty sure it’s Maggie and Carl. The one on the right looks like they’re wearing a pack and the left is Maggie holding Hershel’s hand.
Yeah that’s 100% Maggie on the cover. Not sure how some people are seeing Negan..But I think Maggie might be wearing Negan’s jacket. Hmmm
Wow. Okay, first cover was psycho, and this one follows it. Maybe Whisperers are gone, but the whole Alexandria is flooded, all pigs, livestock and crops eaten/destroyed. But, summary says that Maggie leads survivors… So maybe more people will survive, let’s say Lydia or Earl. But this is insane, Alexandria is so full, cleaning it will be impossible.
