The Walking Dead Issue 183 caught us up on Michonne and Elodie living a normal, every-day life at the Commonwealth. Just kidding, everything went to sh*t half-way through. So what did you think of the issue? How will Rick and Pamela react to the insanity at Commonwealth? Let us know in the comments and we might send you a Robert Kirkman-signed copy of the issue!
Previously: Rick and Governor Milton’s tour of communities continues with visits to the Sanctuary, Kingdom, the newly rebuilt Hilltop…and a history lesson about Negan. Milton proves to be a divisive figure, finding a potential ally in the Saviors’ leader John, yet met with distrust from Maggie. The tour now continues onto its final destination: The Commonwealth.
Yesss I’ve been waiting for this! tysm
Think of how much a non-issue all of this fire would be, if Michonne had her sword to put it out…
That was a fun issue. Starting to see the undertone of political issues in the Commonwealth as they try a little too hard to stick with the “old ways” of the world.
Even in a zombie apocalypse we are our own worst enemy
“The dead don’t kill their own. It’s the living you gotta be afraid of.”
I like issues that do a deep dive into a smaller number of characters so this was good fun. And we got to see another Commonwealth location which is great.
The Commonwealth class theme is an interesting motif but Cloris was really hitting it on the nose a bit much. I wonder if we’ll see her again – I’d like to get a bit more on her character.
I love the legal side of things but I’d like to know more about the Commonwealth’s governmental system. As far as I can tell, the Governor has no democratic legitimacy and which laws will Michonne be litigating? Ohio state law which must surely now be defunct? The Commonwealth’s own version of the law? In which case, whatever she argues is essentially window dressing on a totalitarian state.
New countries can have laws, but I am going to bet they are based on something very close to previous state and or federal law.
This was a really interesting issue! I am really enjoying the insight we are getting into the Commonwealth! Can’t wait to see how The new Governor and Rick handle it!
I wonder when Rick will die, and the comic will have Carl at the helm…I hope not for a while
This comic series from the beginning has engaged me in story-telling more than any other comic I have ever read. I have been left speechless, excited, happy, sad and ect. thanks to this comic series. My two favorite characters in The Walking Dead comic series was Glenn(Rip) and of course Rick Grimes. I have been attached to all the characters, even Michonne how could someone not like her sh’s a total badass with a katana. I was honestly getting a little board with her character to be honest as of late. As of recently though she knows her daughter is alive and she has a true purpose again in the epic comic storyline. It feels like now that Michonne has been ultimately just trying to survive, but she has a refound hope again. It’s made her more interesting and given new hope and different feel to the comic. Loving the Commonwealth and I can’t wait to see how this plays out..
Such a fun issue!! It was fun to read!
I was ready to see what’s really up with the commonwealth. It sucks that it seems like it’s a misunderstanding. At least that’s how I took it. They overheard Michonne talking with Elodie and thought they were standing up for the guards. When they weren’t. I mean Michonne put herself in danger to try to protect the man! Is Michonne going to represent the guard in a court of law?
I thought Greenville was gorgeous and it reminded her of Ezekiel. The commonwealth had a gorgeous place with lots of numbers. It shows they are doing something right of course I’m waiting for the other foot to drop or whatever that saying is ! Lol
I would NOT want the job of cleaning the walkers up on the road! Whoever got that job got screwed lol!!
I don’t like the Commonwealth. Get Elodies ass to Alexandria and be done with it. The class system in the Commonwealth is ridiculous. And did we go from the Commonwealth to Greenville to back to the Commonwealth in one issue?
I loved this issue! I knew Michonne giving Eugene her “precious” was going to turn out for the worst. Something great has finally come her way for the first time, her daughter, and I bet she loses her or her own life very soon…. I will be sad to see it go down, please be easy on us Kirkman… I knew the Common Wealths legal system was going to blow up, pun intended, sooner than later. Society is broken. Rick has the system right and the new Governor will now know this. Anyway can’t wait till October 13th and that new Adlard #1 Variant, alng with #184 it’ll b a real nice Halloween treat. Thank u Skybound and Image and Kirkman for bringing my monthly entertainment. I don’t know what I’d do without you.
The roll-out of events throughout this issue was brilliant. Like a snowball rolling down a hill getting bigger and bigger. Well constructed storytelling to fit within one issue. Excellent.

Cannot wait to see just how Rick reacts to this whole commonwealth mess!! Clearly Rick’s way of thinking was the right way to go. Show ‘em how’s it’s down Grimes!
BEST COMMENT!
Just kidding, but seriously;
THIS ISSUE WAS LIT!
It felt so realistic in the sense of situational realism! Sure the Zombies and the dangers of people have always been an ever present threat, but this issue just felt way too real! Like, FOR REAL.
I tried to make sense of that statement and it just wasn’t working, sorry!
But I cant wait to see how this gets fixed. I really hope Rick is the one to either try to put it together or is the one to actually fix it!
Question, how do these comment thungs work? I dont think I’ve ever seen someone win these things? ? Thank You!
Michonne shows that she is can handle new situations with the same katana-sharp skill that her introduction with 2 chained zombies startled readers with.. She’s a master survivalist who can navigate in a boardroom or in a herd of the dead. Her ability to size-up situations while retaining her wits, her loyalty to kin and friends, and her fearsome threat to any adversary makes her Rick’s best asset, and perhaps his successor.
Most importantly for her, she now has the opportunity to reclaim her soul from her inner demons and her buried shame over how she let her former life exclude her children. She has come a long way but her journey is one of redemption. With that past resolving, anything is possible for her future in this chaotic saga, and as this issue shows, she will survive and lead others. Her true sword is her mind and her strength is her heart. Carry on sister Michonne!
Everyone who has already comment pretty much nailed it. Anything I say is just going to be a reiteration of everything so far. So all I will say is that Rick’s face at the end is fucking priceless! I can’t be the only one who literally laughed out loud. XD

Did anybody read the letter hacks? They pretty much foreshadowed Michonne’s death
Right?! I’m guessing they’re doing it on purpose and that it’s Elodie they’re going to kill off, at which point Michonne will kill every last muthafucka in the room (or the commonwealth)
Oh this is not good, not good at all. I got a STRONG “Some Shit Is About To End For Michonne” vibe,.. PLEASE don’t kill her off! If Elodie’s gotta go, I can handle it, but not Michonne… not so close to Show Rick! It already brought tears to my eyes last issue with Carl and Rick, and Andy Lincoln is the little plastic thing that holds that show’s six pack together man!!
October… ugh.. ok. I’m ready. Bring it.
