We added two new characters, promoted a few more, and then demoted others in our comic character Power Rankings for Issue 181 of The Walking Dead. Let’s dive into where the cards landed.
1. Rick
Since Rick’s in charge of giving Governor Milton a tour of his communities we’re comfortable with keeping him on top of this month’s Power Rankings. Sure, his people could have done more to avoid the walker attack but it’s clear that Rick is the most powerful person around – and Pamela has taken notice.
2. Pamela
Speak of the devil! Pamela took some serious risks this issue when she veered herself towards the walker herd as a show of strength to Rick. The tactic nearly got Mercer and Princess killed but thankfully everyone escaped unharmed.
3. Maggie
Maggie breathed a sigh of relief this issue when Aaron and Jesus informed her Beta was dead and the Whisperers were gone for good. Now that the Dante drama has settled Maggie seems more relaxed than ever.
4. Officer Mercer (+3)
Mercer came through again this issue when he saved the Governor, Princess, and more from a dangerously close walker herd. His efforts paid off with a kiss from Princess, which Mercer didn’t seem to mind all that much. The resentment Mercer has towards Pamela makes you wonder how much longer he can put up with being a bodyguard.
5. Michonne (-1)
Michonne may be sitting pretty in the Commonwealth after accepting Lance’s offer, but being so distant from her friends and katana could make her vulnerable. For that, we’re bumping her down.
6. John (NEW)
Although we haven’t seen John in a while, we’re adding him back because his leadership at the Sanctuary will soon play a much bigger role in the story.
7. Dwight
Dwight carries a lot of power as the head of Rick’s army. Although he had a huge hand in staving off the walker herd, Rick still didn’t seem pleased that he allowed the situation to escalate the way he did. As a result we’re keeping him in the same spot.
8. Princess
Fans wondering how Princess and her bubbly personality survived this long got their answer in this issue. Her double-team attack with Mercer helped avoid a major catastrophe and may have even started something bigger.
9. Eugene (-5)
We’re moving Eugene down because his job in connecting the communities is mostly over. Now that Rick and Pamela are getting to know each other Eugene will have to find a new mission after Governor Milton’s tour – perhaps at Commonwealth?
10. Magna (+1)
Magna wasn’t in this issue so we’re only bumping her up because Lance moved down.
11. Yumiko (+1)
The same goes for Yumiko, but expect to see more of her and Magna in the coming issues.
12. Lance (-3)
Lance may have gotten Michonne to stay at Commonwealth but now what? Will he continue to play a role in her life there or will he return to recruiting outsiders? Until we see him again we’re moving him down our list.
13. Carl (+1)
Carl will also begin to show up in the story more over the next few issues. The stories to watch with him will be his friendship with former Whisperer Joshua along with his ongoing girl drama between Lydia and Sophia.
14. Maxwell (NEW)
We’re adding Maxwell back into the mix because (outside of Mercer) he’s the only person Pamela can trust during her tour of Rick’s allied communities. His opinions could sway the Governor in major ways, so for that he’s back in the fold.
15. Elodie (-2)
Elodie may play a major role in Michonne’s life (and her decision to stay at Commonwealth), but otherwise doesn’t hold a ton of power. Therefore we’re knocking her down a couple spots.
16. Jesus
Jesus and Aaron finally returned this issue to deliver the good news about Beta to Maggie. Here’s to hoping we see more of them in the future!
17. Aaron
Same goes for Aaron ^^^
18. Sebastian (-8)
Like Gregory it’s fun to put the biggest piece of sh*t at the bottom of our character Power Rankings. It’s like 98% of the reason he’s still on the list.
On the Bubble: William, Siddiq, Dante, Laura, Sophia, Heath, and Laura.
That wraps up this month’s character Power Rankings for Issue 181! What did YOU think of the new list? Let us know in the comments.
