The third part of New World Order introduced us to even more new characters – meaning our power rankings had to shift. Here’s the updated list of the most powerful characters in The Walking Dead for Issue 177.
1. Pamela
Nothing changed for Pamela this issue so she’s staying atop our character Power Rankings unless she’s all of a sudden not the leader of a 50,000+ community.
2. Rick
It was good to see Rick again – especially in a state where he’s not sobbing at Andrea’s grave. Maybe counseling Mikey is actually paying off.
3. Michonne
Michonne finally got to speak one-on-one with her daughter Elodie this issue – and it did not disappoint. Although she learned her other daughter Collette didn’t make it and that Elodie did unspeakable things, Michonne was still overjoyed to be reunited with her. It will be a relationship worth watching to see where they go from here.
4. Maggie
Years after losing Glenn, Maggie finally got some. It looks like her kissing Dante after freeing Negan wasn’t just an in-the-moment impulse – she actually has a thing for him! For once she can feel free to be who she is and date who she wants. This is definitely a positive step for Maggie.
5. Lance
Lance didn’t do anything this issue but he still ranks high in The Commonwealth, so he’s staying put.
6. Eugene
Same goes for Eugene.
7. Princess (+1)
Princess didn’t speak this episode but she’s still very involved in the story – so for that we’re leapfrogging her over Carl.
8. Carl (-1)
Speaking of, these rankings follow a ‘what have you done for me lately’ set of rules – so until we see Carl again we’re going to move him down.
9. Sebastian (NEW)
As much as it pains us to add mama’s boy Sebastian in our rankings, his influence over Pamela is striking. As powerful as Pamela seems she still bends to the will of her ungrateful son. This son, by the way, might get just push Officer Mercer over the edge.
10. Officer Mercer (NEW)
That brat perfectly transitions us into Officer Mercer – the understandably fed-up security guard chosen to guard The Governor’s seemingly waste of a son Sebastian. As whipped as he seems with the Governor, it looks like this isn’t a long-term job for him.
11. Siddiq (+2)
Siddiq is rising the rankings because he accidentally learned Mercer and his buddy George have plans to see Pamela’s regime come to an end. Knowledge is power.
12. Magna (-1)
Magna’s only getting moved down because of the additions of Mercer and Sebastian.
13. Yumiko (-1)
Same goes for Yumiko ^^^
14. Elodie (NEW)
We’re adding in Michonne’s daughter because she obviously has an effect on her mother, who is one of the most powerful characters in The Walking Dead. Could she convince Michonne to stay or will she return to Alexandria with her? However it all plays out, she matters.
15. Jesus (-6)
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Jesus, so until he reappears we’re keeping him low on our rankings.
16. Aaron (-6)
Ditto for Aaron.
17. William (-3)
William remains in the rankings only because he’s in charge of The Kingdom – so that means something, right?
18. Dwight (-3)
Dwight hasn’t been involved in the story for a while – but look for that to change before this New World Order arc changes.
On the Bubble: Dante, Maxwell, Lydia, & Sophia
