New World Order may be ending but the Commonwealth’s story is just getting started. Tell us what YOU thought of this revealing issue in the comments. The absolute best response will receive a Robert Kirkman-signed copy of the issue! So get to it – and also make sure to pick up the Alpha variant!
UPDATE: The winner for this month’s Walking Dead comment contest is bfrankf! Loved your takes about the Commonwealth, especially the conspiracy about Mercer taking over and blaming everything on Alexandria. We could see that happening, too! Anyway, thanks for writing in – check your email for a message from us. To everyone else, see you next month!
Previously: The Commonwealth’s class system divides the visitors from Alexandria on how fair its practices are. However, Michonne decides to live there, giving herself a second chance at life alongside her daughter as The Commonwealth’s newest lawyer. Moving on also means giving her katana to Eugene to show Rick how much she believes in her new life. Eugene leads the Governor’s delegation on the long journey back to Alexandria, where the real work is about to begin…
Oh gosh! What an issue! They really turned up the pressure with pamela turning up at Alexandria. I understand where dwights heart is at but he is doing the wrong things at the wrong time but i do hope he gets back on track with rick after what he said about him not being fit to lead and threatening him in 169. I also don’t like how michonne will go about things as she seems to like her “living conditions” so she will agree with Pamela on the old world order. Speaking of, I’ve already been theorizing what the future could hold. I believe Pamela will decline on Ricks offer of a new world order. Then later on will be killed by Mercer and his army and they will return to the common wealth saying the Alexandrian and their people were the ones who did the deed in turn allowing Sebastian (sadly) to become the new leader of the commonwealth, and wanting revenge, will try to start a war resulting in his death (thank god) and the commonwealth becoming part of the system allowing the new world order spread to their land with lance taking control. To end off, I think every thing is gonna go “neck deep up shits creek without a paddle” (RIP Abraham).
To explain in history terms imagine communist Russia as the Alexandrians hilltop and the sanctuary and the rest of Europe as the commonwealth. Europe doesn’t want communism to spread into their land so they used Nazi Germany to prevent this with appeasement (Sebastian and his anger over pamelas death). And then this led to the Nazis gaining power and then starting war. This war then ended with the Nazis loosing their power and Adolf Hitler (sebastian) dying (I doubt he will kill himself I think Mercer of Dwight will kill him). Thank you historical knowledge!
I know Mr.Kirkman is building up to something here and I’m waiting for that ball to drop!! Lol
Loved how New World Order was referenced in the issue. Specially because it’s the last issue of New World Order.
It makes complete sense that Governor Milton would not be the one who founded the commonwealth but kept it running. But that makes me wonder who did and where are they now? I feel like Michonne is blinded by reuniting with her daughter that she’s not seeing the truth about the commonwealth. And now she doesn’t have her katana, which worries me.
Looks like Milton wants Eugene at her community. I hope Eugene isn’t in danger. I’ve always felt his character is irreplaceable and such an asset. We all need a Eugene.
I wonder about Stephanie and if she’ll warn Michonne more or where she even is. I have a bad feeling. She was apart of the storyline for awhile and then once the group got to Ohio she kinda just fell off. I’d like to know why she answered the radio in the first place.
Milton is definitely not threatened by Rick. She sees an old man in front of her. Which gives Rick the upper hand.
Dwight, Dwight Dwight! Lol I just want to love Dwight. He tries so hard but can’t seem to do anything right. Hopefully He and Rick can get back on track.
Princess is just the character we needed! She’s adding something to every issue that makes us love her.
I still have Mikey and Negan in the back of mind. We kinda broke away from those two storylines but I know something is coming.
I miss Andrea
EVERYTHING you said, except that part about the Princess… I still don’t like that character.
Try and think of a new colour. You can’t. Makes you realise how feeble the human brain is, might as well feed it to a walker.
What are you talking about. You can’t “think of a new color” because it’s literally beyond our perceptive reasoning. Our understanding of color comes from the light spectrum visible to us. Asking someone to think of a new color and saying we’re feeble because we can’t is like asking a bee to understand what “2+2” is and declaring it feeble when it doesn’t tell you the answer is “4.”
Shhh… one of them is a little self-aware. Doesn’t matter if they don’t quite get it right. Just the idea of them recognizing something’s off is a good thing. Let us watch & see what happens.
Rick Grimes turning into a revolutionary working class hero is my favorite thing to happen in pop culture probably ever. I honestly didn’t think I could like comic Rick any more than I already did, then Kirkman pull that. Just amazing.
Really feel like something is going to go wrong. I think Pamela is going to die while visiting these communities and word will get back to Sebastian who will take power and start a huge war. If Rick is going to die at some point during the series like Kirkman said, I’m worried that time is now.
“Funny you should ask” the callbacks to the governor really made this issue for me, goes to show just how far everyone has come over the years.
Is it just me or did Pamela look like Alpha when she said “That’s the world order. Always has been.” I mean, aside from Rick on occasion, I never mistake anyone for anyone else so I was surprised. The issue itself was really good. I like when we get to see our characters tell other characters about their past. Him telling her how a man with her title took the hand she asked about is a really good way of showing how far this story has come. Also I miss Andrea and I think Dwight may die soon if he doesn’t chill the fluff out.
I miss Andrea.
Loved this and I loved the blindsiding reveal of what the “new world order” of the title actually refers to.
Great to see more of Dwight. Must be about a year since we’ve seen him. I’m glad he’s cooled down but I’m interested to see where his arc goes. Nice to see Laura back too.
I feel like this is heading to the re-establishment of democracy. If your civilisation is big enough for a class system, it’s big enough for an election. Thing is, there’s not necessarily a likelihood that Rick would win something like that — the Commonwealth might be put off by his war stories, his “fear the whisperers” fear-mongering and the former whisperers his community is housing. Equally, Pamela is extremely vulnerable as I don’t sense she’s hugely popular. Could a third, potentially much more dangerous, candidate enter? Don’t think Negan would but a Negan-type exploiting that situation to seize power in the Commonwealth could create real trouble.
Who is the one who appointed Pamela? Where are they and what will they be like? That’s what I wanna know!
Im sensing a little flirtatiousness between Rick and Pamela! Is that too soon? ? i need another issue before we can start coming up with ship names!
