We’re halfway through the final arc of Compendium 3! BIG stuff coming! Here’s where we’re at heading into issue 142:
Rick returns to Alexandria to find Dwight waiting for him. Dwight, it turns out, wants out as leader of the Saviors. It’s not a role he ever wanted. Rick tells him that it’s up to him to step down and hold an election. When he gets to the basement to check on Negan, Rick finds Negan’s cell unlocked and Negan… just sitting there. Is Negan trustworthy? At a town meeting, Eugene and Rosita announce that Rosita is pregnant (what they don’t say: the baby isn’t Eugene’s. They’ll all find out when the baby is born without a mullet, though). Rick chastises Olivia for leaving the cell unlocked. With the fair about to start, Rick tells Andrea that keeping Negan alive proves to everyone that civilization has returned, and that killing him would be the end of everything they’ve built. Meanwhile, at the Hilltop, Maggie hangs Gregory.
Zach Herrera—who helps manage our Facebook page—has his Five Fan Questions for Issue 142:
1. Almost a year of hype and the Alexandria fair is finally here! Is it going to be a success or will underlining conflicts ruin the event?
2. Is Negan finished trying to be a good guy?
3. What reaction will Maggie and the Hilltop get for publicly hanging Gregory?
4. Is Dwight stepping down as leader of the Saviors really a good idea? Is there any other candidate who can work with the other fractions?
5. Will we find out who impregnated Rosita? Will he be at the fair?
Comment below and let us know your answers to the questions above!
Fair Forecast: Cloudy with a chance of meatballs.
1) This is one major Cover Bluffer for what the fair’s gonna be!
2) Negan’s never trying to be a good guy… never.
3) The majority will back Maggie & they’ll be justified for it, widening an already started rift with Rick, even though his intentions are good.
4) If Dwight’s not comfy being a leader, he should step down… leaves a spot for an ousted leader. 😉
5) We might get hints on who possibly impregnated Rosita but we probably won’t find out for a while. I was thinking Dante couldn’t score with Maggie, so he broadened his horizons. EVERYONE’s gonna be at the fair! Who’d miss it, except for maybe Michonne?
Who’d miss it, except for maybe Michonne?
Andrea & Rick, it turns out….
SHUSH! Let the mailman run by first!
1. It’s been almost a year? Crazy.
2. Negeta is becoming a “better” guy.
3. I’d say Rick won’t approve but he has no authority over how someone governs. INB4 “I am the law!”
4. I think he will, doesn’t seem like his heart is in it.
5. Probably and probably.
Negan ‘s motives are interesting whatever they may be. Would it be too obvious if at some point in the future that Rick may actually need Negan? Wonder what his thoughts would be if he knew about Gregory’s fate. We have experienced many horrors so far in the series, makes me wonder what others we will experience in the future.
I have a question though, will we find out about the origin of what causes the entire population to have the virus, and as in the show, will we see a decaying of the walkers that have been still roaming?
Those 5 questions felt like they were right outta “As the World Turns” or some other Soap Opera. Question 1 and 5 might literally be quoted from Young and the Restless.
Don’t get me wrong, I love this book and the vast landscape of characters. But if you would have told me 100 issues ago or even 50, the biggest worry Rick’s group has is if their “County Fair” is successful, I would have laughed and told you how crazy you were. Yes, it is a testament to Kirkman and Adlard that we are all still enthralled by the day to day drama these characters are faced with that we are all eager for every issue. And while I fully understand that you can’t have them fighting Zombies or Evil Humans every issue, this “Harvest Festival” plot line is far from my favorite. I’m more concerned with Carl’s adventures among the Whispers then I am with who the father of Rosita’s baby is. Unless its Zombie Abraham. That would be a twist.
7 issues to go until Ragnarock… (aka #150, but only by me) This is the quiet before the sh*t-storm that will be #150
I really want to know what’s going on with Carl. How Maggie is going to become The new Rick in the hilltop. How bad ass Alpha really is. Why tf is Negan trying to play the mind Fuck game on everybody. I still can’t fucking figure him out. I’m excited about the issue overall. They always pack the issue just right. Show more Carl lol
Underlying conflicts will ruin the fair, haha that i can promise, im not sure how yet but its going to happen, and carl needs a corpse to wear, im not sure who knocked up rosita but thats a shitty situation for everyone involved and i feel bad, hopefully shit works out with maggie and rick too because i love both of them so much, and i personally dont want dwight to step down as head savior cause hes loyal to rick and this next joker might not give a shit, it would be great to see the drama though so im fine either way hahaha
1) Expect some serious Kirk-Jerk when it come to this fair, things are rarely as they appear on the covers.
2) Dude is a total convert and a super nice guy now, FREE NEGAN! . . . or is he.
3) Ricks not going to like it and even less when he finds our “Carrrrrllll” is missing, dont expect all out war part 2 but some heated scenes are on the cards.
4) If Dwight wants out then let him go, lets Have us an election.
5) No. we aint going to find out fro a while.
