This month’s eye-opening Outcast issue provided us with some serious insight into Kyle’s father, Kyle’s past, and Kyle’s future. With all these pieces in motion let’s dive into who the most powerful characters of the series are at the moment:
1. Simon (+1)
Kyle’s long-lost father Simon arrived in Rome at the perfect time. With Sidney gone now’s the perfect moment for Kyle to realize his full potential, receive closure of his past, and prepare for any impending demons headed his way.
2. Kyle Barnes (-1)
We are only marking Kyle down because his father is significantly more powerful and will act as his teacher for the foreseeable future. If Kyle were to usurp Simon in power or influence we would be happy to send him back up to the top.
3. Chief Giles
Seeing Chief Giles literally scrub away his friend’s brutal murder scene reminded us of that Woodstock cop from the S-Town Podcast. If you haven’t listened to it yet (and you should), this cop was one of half a dozen in this small town in Alabama who would perpetually look the other way when his friends committed crimes. Similarly, Giles seems to be sticking his neck out a little TOO far for his friends lately.
4. Allison Barnes (+3)
We’re finally ready to move Allison up now that she’s taken more charge of her situation. Determined to protect Amber at all costs, she distanced herself from Reverend Anderson and got closer with the one guy that might actually save this town, Kyle.
5. Amber Barnes (+1)
Amber’s been mostly asleep the last few issues but she still has more power than those below her.
6. Possessed Romans (-1)
The possessed folks of Rome finally came to terms with the fact Sidney’s gone for good. Despite his passing, these people seem more determined than ever to “make bold moves” and drive Kyle out for good. Also, was their new outcast comment a reference to Amber??
7. Reverend Anderson (-3)
Reverend Anderson continued his descent into nothing this issue when his only friends sent him packing into a barn because he was too dangerous to live around. Things do not seem to be looking up for the Rev.
8. Megan Holter
We haven’t seen Meg in a minute but we she won’t be gone for long, so we’ll keep her here at the bottom for now.
Out of the Rankings: Mark Holter (He’s done nothing recently).
