Today marks a huge day for us at Skybound: we’re expanding! Introducing Skybound North, a Vancouver-based office that will primarily focus on developing Canadian writing and production talent. Headed by former LucasFilm Animation executive Catherine Winder, Skybound North will aim to produce a variety of entertainment projects that will help give voice to new talent. LOS ANGELES, CA – October 4, 2016 – Skybound Entertainment, led by Robert Kirkman and David Alpert, announced today that they will be expanding their Los Angeles-based multimedia entertainment company with the opening of their Skybound North office in Vancouver, BC. Skybound North will be led by former LucasFilm Animation executive Catherine Winder.
The Skybound North office will function as a full-service production entity to help develop, nurture and produce content with top Canadian production and writing talent. The AMC comic-docu series, Heroes and Villains: The History of Comics, will be one of the first projects produced through Skybound North.
“The pedigree and experience Catherine brings to our team is invaluable. Her foresight and creative intuition is reflected in the quality of her work, and will help expand our voice as storytellers,” said Skybound Chairman Robert Kirkman and Skybound CEO David Alpert in a joint statement. “There is a vast pool of top notch Canadian talent and nobody knows the landscape better than Catherine. We look forward to what’s ahead with Catherine at the helm of Skybound North,” added Kirkman and Alpert.

Before joining Skybound Catherine built and ran multiple digital media studios in addition to producing the recent box office hit The Angry Birds Movie, Escape from Planet Earth, Star Wars: The Clone Wars Movie and Series, Spawn (TV), Spicy City and Aeon Flux. As Senior VP, she also oversaw production of Ice Age for Fox Feature Animation.
