Nerd Prom. Geek Mardi Gras. Christmas in July. Call it what you will, this year’s San Diego Comic-Con is mere days away. And if you’re wondering what exclusives Skybound is bringing to Comic-Con 2023, wonder no more. We’ll have everything from Invincible variant cover comics to an all-new Walking Dead skate deck from artist Bear Walker, who will be signing for fans! The merchandise booth will be open for business starting the night of Wednesday, July 19th, Preview Night, premiering exclusive SDCC gear including comics, games, apparel, limited edition collectibles and more across fan-favorite Skybound properties.
Headlining the merchandise booth will be custom The Walking Dead skate decks by rising star artist Bear Walker, all-new The Walking Dead and Invincible AR-enabled pins by Pinfinity, and the official Burger Mart Box, which features exclusive Invincible merchandise alongside all-new cover Slabs produced by Yesterdays, with 1:10 chance of securing a Robert Kirkman signed Slab comic cover trading card.
Each day of the convention will also see a special variant cover of Invincible comics available for fans to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the best superhero comic in the universe, published by Image Comics. Skybound has recruited some of the best talent in comics–Greg Capullo, Tradd Moore, Andy Kubert, Justine Florentino and Rose Besch–to showcase favorite characters Invincible, Omni-Man, Atom Eve and Battle Beast.

“The Walking Dead is what originally got me into the comic/graphic novel genre, and really pop culture and collectibles in general. Robert Kirkman has been a big creative inspiration throughout my career, so it made this all feel pretty full circle. One of my favorite things about the graphic novel is the grungy monochromatic art style, and I wanted to bring that to life with the board design and make sure it felt true to the source material. When I was conceptualizing the design, I wanted it to look like a page from the graphic novel, but have it seem like the Walkers are breaking into reality through the board. The black and white Walker hands are reaching through the frame, and I utilized the woodgrain of the board to bring some extra dimension to Lucille. And of course, I had to finish it off with the only acceptable color pop… blood spatter.
