With so much Invincible news coming out of San Diego at this weekend’s SDCC 2023 (including word that Season 2 of Prime Video’s Invincible will arrive on November 3rd), it was easy to miss one particularly exciting tidbit — Omni-Man will be a playable character in the latest version of Mortal Kombat! The ever-popular fighting game’s co-creator Ed Boon made a surprise appearance on Friday’s Invincible 20th Anniversary panel to break the news.
Commenting on Omni-Man’s inclusion in Mortal Kombat 1, the 12th installment in the fighting game series, and a sequel to 2019’s Mortal Kombat 11, Boon laughed, “We really had to tone down Omni-Man to make him fit in Mortal Kombat.”
Just as noteworthy on Omni-Man’s role in Mortal Kombat 1 is the actor who will be voicing him. None other than J.K. Simmons will reprise his role as the character’s voice from Prime Video’s hit Invincible adult animated series based on the Skybound comic.
Boon and Kirkman revealed the news in an exclusive interview via Skybound’s live video feed. You can check it out at the 4:01:06 mark in the video below…
“It’s as authentic as it can be,” said Boon.

“I could die a happy man just having anything to do with Mortal Kombat,” said Kirkman on Friday’s panel.
