Fan-favorite artist Paul Pelletier is known for the reliably vibrant draftsmanship he’s brought Marvel and DC — part cartoon, part realism; in the grand tradition of Neal Adams and Alan Davis. The comics vet will soon make his G.I. Joe debut, when he serves as guest artist on Skybound’s G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #306, written by the equally stalwart Larry Hama. You can check out three pages from the May release, featuring everyone’s favorite Dreadnok Zartan, after these office details from Skybound HQ…
Today Skybound and Image Comics, in collaboration with leading toy and game company Hasbro, announced fan-favorite artist Paul Pelletier (Aquaman) as series guest artist for the smash hit series G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero.
“Joining the GI JOE team sounded like a fun challenge. Having spent most of my career in the superhero world, GI JOE provides a chance for me to push myself as an artist/storyteller on a slightly different kind of book,” said artist Paul Pelletier. “Working with an all-time pro like Larry Hama is a very nice bonus, along with getting to work again with my friend Tony on inks and seeing page after page of Francesco’s terrific colors.”
Paul Pelletier joins the creative team alongside legendary series writer Larry Hama (Marvel’s Wolverine), artist Tony Kordos (Batman & Robin Eternal) and colorist Francesco Segala (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers). Featuring covers bythe incomparable Andy Kubert (Marvel’s X-Men), the iconic series’ issue #306 arrives in comic book shops on May 15, 2024.
“I’m thrilled to be working with the great Paul Pelletier again,” said Alex Antone, Editorial Director at Skybound. “From Aquaman to Green Lantern, Paul’s been one of the best in the biz for years, and we can’t wait to share his G.I. JOE debut.”
Destro and Zartan have formed a new partnership, but the Dreadnok has a secret that will change everything. As Snake Eyes and Scarlett begin a new chapter, tragedy strikes for someone dear to them in Springfield…
In addition to the main cover by Andy Kubert and colorist Brad Anderson, issue #306 will also feature an open-to-order variant cover with a black and white version of Kubert’s stunning main cover, and a 1:10 incentive cover series by Brad Walker (Detective Comics) and colorist Francesco Segala.
The return of G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero continues the historic collaboration between Skybound and Hasbro, alongside the all-new shared Energon Universe that features Void Rivals by Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead) and artist Lorenzo De Felici (Oblivion Song), TRANSFORMERS by writer/artist Daniel Warren Johnson, Duke by writer Joshua Williamson (DC’s Superman, Dark Ride) and artist Tom Reilly (The Thing), and Cobra Commander by writer Joshua Williamson and artist Andrea Milana (Impact Winter: Rook). Fans should expect can’t-miss moments from every issue of the Energon Universe, as secrets are unveiled along the path to answering the BIG questions.
