While Rick and the gang were out murdering Saviors in their sleep, Morgan was back in Alexandria hard at work building…something. But what exactly was he building? WHY was he building it? And why don’t I listen to more Hozier?? Executive Producer/Visual Effects master Greg Nicotero tells Cinema Blend the answers to 2/3 of those questions:
“He’s building a cell. The jail cell that they had wasn’t necessarily much of a jail cell. It was like a little room with a little metal gate. I think Morgan is committed to the next time they have somebody in there, if they need to, they’ll attempt to rehabilitate them. He wants to be equipped. It goes back to his story with Eastman. Let’s be honest, Jesus didn’t last very long in that place. It can’t be that secure.”
Some fans are already speculating the foreshadowing attached to this news. Exhibit A:
As a reminder, here are the infamous “inmates” that have occupied the cell in the past:
Those didn’t exactly go so well…
It’s OK Morgan, we’re sure your cell will be really strong! When has a cell ever been vulnerable?
Oh, right…
Well… that jails probably going to come in handy one day. If I were a betting man.
Crazy that the TV show introduces it only a few days after it is emptied in the comic
I do feel the show is bringing things from the book early. I worry about Carol after seeing that preview with her & Maggie getting hoods put on their heads. If you have read the books Negan has used this hostage exchange before…..it doesn’t end well.
Morgan is building that cell for Rick,he’s trying to save his humanity, but he actually going to save Ricks life when Negan ARRIVES Rick will be locked away in the cell,BUT Rick going to KILL Morgan ASS if Negan don’t Lucille him 1st.
