Michonne and what’s left of her group are back in Alexandria to catch Maggie and the others up on what happened. Suddenly, Rick sprints towards Alexandria with a horde of walkers behind him yelling “OPEN THE GATE.” Michonne, Maggie, and the others let him in just in time. Despite the hundreds of walkers amassed on the walls, Rick claims they’re “safe for now” and the others (Daryl, Sasha, Glenn, etc.) will come back. The Alexandrians challenge his optimism but Aaron explains if it weren’t for Rick there would be twice the amount of walkers at their walls. He goes on to reveal the Wolves found his pack and ultimately their way to Alexandria because of him. Deanna, who’s been in a stupor since the attack, aimlessly walks away.
Jessie begins digging the grave of the wolf she killed when Rick implores her to stop. “We don’t bury killers inside the walls,” he reminds her. Meanwhile, the Alexandrians berate Olivia for rationing food and begin plundering the food supply. Spencer walks in and demands them to stop. Bruce scolds him on leaving the gate open but Spencer reminds him that he also saved the community by taking out the truck driver. “Where were you, Bruce?” he challenges. After dropping that sick burn, Spencer warns that pilfering food now will send them on a road where nothing and no one matters later. They reluctantly retreat as a proud Deanna cracks her first smile in days.
As Alexandrians add Nicholas and Glenn to the memorial wall, Aaron confronts Maggie about leaving alone. Clearly wanting to redeem himself for the biggest f**k up of all time, he volunteers to help her to search for Glenn. Elsewhere, Deanna becomes inspired and draws up a blueprint of a larger Alexandria full of crops and new homes. After hearing a noise, she comes upon a drunk Spencer with stolen goods from the pantry. He reasons one person stealing is better than everyone. He lashes out at Deanna for not protecting Alexandria enough. Carl and Ron fight over searching for Enid beyond the wall. Ron threatens to tell Rick if Carol goes. “You saved my life and now I’m saving yours,” he explains. In the meantime, Tara comforts Denise as she becomes overwhelmed with treating Scott. After taking out one of her neighbors-turned-walkers, Jessie encourages the Alexandrian onlookers to adapt and fight.
Aaron and Maggie journey through a sewer in search for Glenn. “If he’s alive he needs my help and that’s why I’m doing this,” Maggie surmises. Suddenly, Maggie’s overtaken by sewer zombies and Aaron saves her (proving her original plan to go solo WAS a bad idea). Aaron and Maggie seem to arrive at the scene of the Glenn crime but Maggie gets emotional and gives up. And guess WHAT?! Maggie is PREGNANT!! It’s super exciting BUT being pregnant without Glenn AND it being the zombie apocalypse makes it…difficult.
Back in Alexandria Denise stabilizes Scott while Ron informs Rick of Carl’s plan to chase after Enid. Tara comforts Denise again as they share a romantic moment. Later, Deanna goes full Jessie/Carol/Rick and takes out her first walker with a broken wine glass. Covered in its blood, Deanna tells Rick “I want to live.” In a surprising move, Deanna hands the reins of Alexandrian leadership over to Rick. “What they need…is you.” Now back in Alexandria, Maggie and Aaron scrubs off Glenn’s name from the memorial wall. Rick shares a romantic moment with Jessie as Deanna beats on the gate against the walkers. As she walks away blood starts seeping through the wall.
Questions:
Will Maggie ever get closure with Glenn?
How will Rick handle his new role?
How will they get rid of those walkers at the wall??
Let us know in the comments below!
So happy no one died.
GUES WHAT GUYS …. GLENN DIDNT DIE . REMEMBER WHEN NICHOLAS SHOT HIMSELF AND FELL ON TOP OF GLENN. WELL THE GUTS THAT THE ZOMBIES WERE EATING WAS NICHOLAS’S AND GLENN IS STILL ALIVE SO AS LONG AS GLENN COVERS HIMSELF IN NICHOLAS’S BLOOD THEN THE ZOMBIES WILL THINK HE IS DEAD AND HE CAN WALK AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!
Blow them up!
My wish for more fluid swapping in the apocalypse has been heard. Dreams do come true!
This was a good ep. When Maggie said she was pregnant that made me feel like Glenn is def dead. I’m still hoping not
I’m still waiting for Glenn to make it back and then for pregnant Maggie to meet Negan…
Sorry! This is the kind of evil our writers are!
Daryl is the one thats going to meet Negan and Lucile. People are going to freak out. Can’t wait
Dude, they would freak if it was a pregnant Maggie too!
Not like they would with Daryl. He’s easily (I can’t understand why) the most popular character on the show. Plus if they wouldn’t kill Judith at the prison, like they did in the comics, there’s no way in hell they are going to kill a pregnant Maggie. Maggie will be safe for a long time.
Sorry late reply. This episode didn’t interest me enough to get online. Had to wait for 6 and Daryl to spark that.
.
Question: I am not familiar with comic but get bits and pieces from those commenting. I thought Negan was anti-beating of women? Womanizer but hates to see women hurt or something?
No, no, no, no!!!! Say it isn’t so.
Carl and Ron’s fight was shittier than the shit walkers in the sewer. Carl fighting his way though six seasons of walkers and bullshit asshole groups and we’re expected to believe he’s going to go with a hug wrestle opener. Very bad business in this episode.
I’d stop watching if Daryl died.
Lies!
Honestly, for me, Daryl has run his course. He doesn’t add much anymore. Perhaps its deliberate on the show runners part to lessen our attachment to him.
As I said elsewhere here, with Abraham and Daryl around, one of the two is redundant.
You know what my burning question is?
WHERE THE FUCK IS CAROL?
Girl needs to regulate all up in this piece.
Carol’s stalking Morgan.
If that’s the case, we don’t need to worry about Mr. W.
He’s probably already dead. Before Morgan clicked the lock.
Also, we need to be talking about Ron and his desire for a gun.
I kept waiting for him to stab Carl during the fight and then push Rick over the wall during their fence-top chat.
Me too. I thought he was going stab Carl in the eye.
I thought he was going to stab him in the back when he was walking away!
I was clamming up with Martinez flashbacks.
I don’t know which was more stomach-churning, the sewer walkers or Denise’s pus extraction. EW!!
Those walker’s were straight up shitty.
I was impressed with the way that worked so fast – modern medicine eh?
Talk about fast healing… Rick’s hand while he was running.
So I guess Rick’s hand is going to be just fine
I don’t trust him.
I don’t trust Jessie’s son, not Rick. Answer fell in wrong place.
Never mind Carol where the he’ll is Glenn I thought we were going to get closure with this aptly titled “NOW” episode especially when Aaron and Maggie went looking for Glenn in the sewers, which incidentally how did Maggie and Aaron get out of the sewer when they were in a locked part of the sewer with walkers coming out at the other end.. I really thought Glenn was all of a sudden going to pop out of the ground.. ALIVE and also where was Father Gabriel during this episode? Is he in league with the wolves? Will he be Alexandria downfall and where is Enid? So many unanswered questions not enough answers:( To quote Dying Light “GOOD NIGHT GOOD LUCK”
Maggie and Aaron got out of the sewer by going back the way they came. I can’t imagine father Gabriel being in cahoots with the Wolves, seeings how he’s been with Rick and the gang long before they even made it to Washington. Plus one of them was trying to savagely kill him until the ninja warrior Morgan showed up to save the day.
So Davids wife Betsy killed herself when he did not return and turned into a zombie. Why couldn’t we find this out by watching the actual show and not Talking Dead? That would have been far more interesting than Carl and Ron’s silly slap-fight.
Don’t worry. I’m sure they’ll have a 90 minute episode to show the backstory of the Betsy character and what led to her death.
Ha Don’t give the writer’s any ideas. They are either going into cray world or boring world as evidenced by these last two episodes. They are totally losing me. Another episode like this and I’m channel surfing for sure. Maybe there’s some interesting holiday fare to view.
Carl should’ve thrown a hook instead of a shove.
He didn’t want to hurt Ron though, just stop him.
Comic Carl would’ve knocked his ass out cold. MUAHA!!
Since the show did not kill off Judith like the comic did, Carl is left being a babysitter (constantly) so he doesn’t get the chance to hone his skills and become the bad-ass he does in the comic. This means that Chandler Riggs has become the world’s highest paid babysitter.
Carl (in the show) is in desperate need of a haircut. Seriously starting to get to me. The push matched the hair. Cut it a little shorter and punch like a man next time.
Then that little kid goes off and tattles to Rick. He should have been talking to Rick with a black eye.
I know we make comic comparisons way too much, but Cark killing Ben was such an important piece to his character. I think its sorely missing in the show.
Yea Hollywood bitch slap
I like this version of Jessie. Without Andrea around, it would make since they are beefing her character up. When Denise kissed Tera, I lost my mind! I love Tera, she deserves some good times. Pound it!
The mid-season finale is coming; don’t get too attached Jay.
*Tara
Tovah Feldshuh is a BEAST! Mad props to this woman!!
Glad Rick has a girlfriend. He deserves some happiness. Lori was a trip. She didn’t appreciate Rick until it was too late.
Yawn
I still want Rick and Michonne to hook up. But if not, Jessie is cool.
OMG! Have a heart!
Nice to have some love in the apocalypse. It may note appeal to the bloodthirsty. Too bad.
Tell me again why Maggie turned back?
She’s pregnant.
I have to come clean here and admit that I don’t like Deanna. I know that everyone else seems to like her and that the woman who plays her is a fine actor etc. but… Every time I see her I think “It’s ok, I’ll like her this time.” Then she scowls, looks intense, shouts her line and I’m done again.
There’s still hope though, maybe she’ll get Jessie’s comic death.
Jessiebgets killed!!!! Oh the humanity!
Phew. Watched the episode last night, a day late. Nothing spoiled, though, there was nothing to spoil. Looks like Glenn’s fate is being dangled over us until the mid-season finale. Cheap tactic in my opinion.
The only really notable part of this episode was Deanna finally ceding leadership to Rick. I knew it was coming, so there’s that.
Still, something feels off. I am highly dissatisfied and I think its because Rick gets back and everyone is acting almost like the Wolves attack never happened. Rick’s not planning for battle (he might think they are all dead). There’s no fear. Even with the million muncher march going on at the gates, people seem a little too calm. Rick: “Let’s keep noise down”. “Here kid, take my Colt Python and shoot this walker in the head.” Light and noise discipline went out the moment Rick asked for it.
I am excited to catch up with Abraham. I wish they would build Rick and his relationship up more like they did in the comics. Abraham hated Rick to the point of near murder, then came to respect him so much.
Perhaps Daryl will be the next to go. I hate to say it, but with Abraham around, one of those two is redundant.
Here’s to hoping next week’s pick up the pace.
Rick unloaded the gun
The comics sound heartless.
“Million muncher march”… I’m stealing that one… 😉
I was anxious beyond what I thought in myself about this show. Last week we got Morgan’s story and even though the acting was good, it was kind of cliche and boring. I do not think Morgan is going to make it, if he does, it will be him and Rick fighting for what is right. We know what is right. Rick is right. Morganis uneducated and was crazy all this time save for a few work outs in Aikido and bamm, bitches, he is a Ninja! I practiced with a bo for many years and believe me, it is hard and not many are good at it.
Rick and his hand, which had me so worried and he runs home all better…and when did he have time to nurture his love affair. The tension is there but he doesn’t even know her! (jessie)
I also feel like it is better to watch all the episodes after they are done and you get a better flow in the story. I wish they would just let them all out at once like netflix!
Do you think Carol is watching Morgan? I hope some one is because he is one of the big reason why the zombies at the gate.
Also, why didn’t they investigate more on the truck place where Morgan saved Daryl and Aaron? that seems like a huge over site.
Hey these trucks are used to herd zombies and look they are parked by the quarry where there are thousands of zombies..hummm
Who put the trucks there? Who had the trucks rigged to play loud music? Who? Negan? I love the walking dead!!
In the apocalypse there’s no time to nurture anything. You go with the flow. When they first met, Jessie was very nice and Rick was horny.
JEFFERY DEAN MORGAN CAST AS NEGAN. That is all.
& for anybody who goes looking for the source, which is The Hollywood Reporter, the article tells when he arrives. SMH
So do most other sites. Nothing’s sacred anymore.
I figured it would be then in that way. But its a shame they couldn’t leave it.
Jessie gets killed? Oh the humanity. I’m going to stop liking the new characters. Seems they all become Zombie snacks.
Theory: Rick made it back in time in one piece after something happened that we have not yet seen in the next episode (saw a preview today; this makes sense). Also, we will see that herd enter Alexandria after that blood-soaked panel gives way. They are following part of the “No Way Out” series and this will really put them to the test.
And Glenn may just be hiding out until the last episode of the season. Maybe Negan finds him first?
Bring on the Saviours!
